I grew a couple of plants indoors back in 2016. Then that summer grew one outdoors. They were 'Columbian' seeds ... or the modern day version of a strain to replicate them. It's just for my personal stash, so it was not until this year that I had to grow anymore. I had a couple of seeds leftover from 2016 (the freebies that were thrown in when i bought the Columbians). I think these are KC Brain Damage, but not completely certain. I've had them growing in the back yard since May. They've gotten bigger than the last plants I've grown, and they look pretty sweet. I thought they were beginning to stretch a little about 2 weeks ago (late august) so I switched over to bloom nutes. Now it's September and they are still growing, I haven't seen an signs of pistols or buds forming yet. I"m in Ohio, so I was expecting more changes than I'm seeing so far. I realize the strain being different means I shouldn't expect a replication of the grows cycle and appearance of the last crop I grew. But, should I be seeing more signs of blooming by now, and is there anything to be concerned about?
Typically you don't want to switch to bloom nutrients until 2 weeks in thats when you cut back on nitrogen and start the PK I would give it just good water for a moment or two let it start flowering. The leaf structure screams sativa so it may be a long runner . Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
You should be seeing blooms, yes. Are they getting any light at night from maybe a porchlight or flashlight?
If your KC is anything like my KC Brasil, they may not stop growing for a while. My Brasils were 6ft before they started flowering. Hello Ohio, I know the Dayton and Cincinnati area well.
I noticed a fast spurt of growth which I interpreted as stretching, and used that as a sign that they are switching over to flowering stage. Two weeks later I hit them with bloom nutes. And throw in that that was after the middle of August, so it seemed to make sense from a time of year perspective. So I have been checking them for pistols and so far, haven't noticed any. I think my night time temps will hold until late Oct. So if flowering starts in the next 10 days I am probably good, but it seems like it's getting close. Thanks for the tips!
I'm in northern burbs of cinci. So, would my plan be to leave them outside until mid/late Oct. and then finish them indoors? I have an LED light setup? I"m assuming I need a good 7-9 weeks of flowering
No kidding? Small world. I used to live around Monroe. I leave and they get a damn dispensary. You could definitely leave them out until probably 50 degrees at night. The way the weather has been in Ohio, that could be January! You shouldn’t have any pests by that time so I’d definitely finish inside. Good luck, I loved my KC.
The nutes won't make it flower. Your lighting sometimes will need to go down to 11 and a half hours before some strains with flower! If you want them to go quicker wheel them in the garage at night and give them like 13 hours a complete darkness Sent from my SM-G935T using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Ive had plants out when the morning temps were low 30s. But warming up to mid 60s during the day. But I put a plastic roof on during flower. Those look to be Sativa dominate so probably more like 10-12 weeks.
wow...10 weeks of flowering? Mid-November assuming they start flowering soon. It's sounding like I better get the grow closet setup. Thanks for the good info.
Bring them inside at the end of the day and make sure they get 13 hours if darkness Sent from my SM-G935T using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Than soon as ur day light hours go to 11 or less than leave out till done Sent from my SM-G935T using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Another question. I had two plants, both have been growing since may. When I hit them with bloom nutrients for the first time, one plant reacted badly to the nutes, it seemed to suffer from nute burn (brown leaf edges). So I kept watering it and it started to finally come back and look healthy...but instead of budding it appears to have turned male. I had assumed that I would have seen signs of that much earlier in the grow cycle. did the shock possibly affect it?
