Flowering; flushing question?

  1. Hey I'm sure this has been asked/answered many times, but I couldn't find a definitive answer.

Anyways, when it comes to flowering how often should you flush the res? I'm running a BB system with a 2gal res, 4 plants, and a 600w HPS light. I'm feeding the flora series. I've heard that you're supposed to flush out the entire res and replace it with new water/nutes to stop the salt build up or something, I'm really confused as to why you flush. Also, I've heard to flush at 4 weeks, I've also heard you're supposed to do it every week?

I'm generally confused, if someone could gimme a quick and simple answer as to when to flush and why flush I'd be ecstatic.

i run lucas... i drain all water basically once a week and start over...

flushing like your talking about can be done twice, based on jorge cervante's (fourth shorter edition) easy guide for cannabis , once right before you force to flower... and once for two to seven days at the end of flower...

the question your asking has also been presented lately as completely a waste of time...

your going to find people on both sides of the fence... so its a personal choice...

  3. I think it depends on the size of your rez as to how often you should flush. I have a rez that is 1/3 my entire setup and I can easily go 2 weeks without doing a complete flush. I do have really cold water temps and a lot of air going through micro diffusers though. I have clear tubing and my water is cold enough to not grow algae in it :D

  4. That's not true. You can, I used to. As long as you measure ph, and ppm, you don't have to. You can replace as you go go. If they drank 3 gallOns if water adder 3 gallo s of water + 3 gallons of nutrients. Plus I've noticed that a week is pretty short time when you look at the nutrients your putting in. I swap depending on ppm's or do a clean swap if it's been more than 3 weeks. I'm only running a 6 gallon res so it's not hard. Bubble buckets are also easy to swap out. Swap out if you notice a problem. Root rot, algae, etc... You'll save a lot of money, especially if your using quality water.
