what would you recommend is best for the yield? 500W = MS-250 Halide + HPS-250 for 51,500 lumens http://www.futuregarden.com/cgi-bin/shop/30-2105.html?id=xt9Vrncw or 500W High Pressure Sodium http://www.futuregarden.com/cgi-bin/shop/30-2057.html so 500W mixed bulbs 250 and 250 or 500W HPS in theory whats better i would probably be most curious to see the mix of light (hps and mh) but im not sure that would be best for those plants. what do you think is best for the plants?
Your babies will flower longer under the dual mh + hps bulb, however, you will have better and more bud. Total hps is faster and more efficient but does not produce as amazing quality results. Depends on when you want to harvest, cause the dual bulb will take quite a bit longer. I'd personally go for the HPS in flowering.
thanks for all the help but im still not clear on where i should start...for example...whats better 600w total of hps or 600w total of hps(300w) and mh(300w) in the same hood. in other words should i split 600 watts between the two bulbs (hps and mh) or should i just go with 600w straight hps. ps this is just an example. you could use whatever numbers you like. second, does anyone know if 300 watts of hps lamp would cover a 2x4=8 square foot growing area? third, bubble bucket users. i hear the plants get very wide due to the amount of root space. is there enough room for two bubble buckets in a 4x2 grow area grow journal anyone? redsourc?
just go for a 600w hps. the hps is more suited for flowering since its similar to the summer/fall harvest sun. the MH is better suited for vigorous veg. growth. Some use just MH to florwer, some use both at the same time. Liek the guy above said, some think mh produces better buds....i dont agree with that. If anything it MAY give you a little denser buds. But I still share the majority view that hps is best for flowering. As long as you have the light as low as possible to the plants (if you have an air cooled hood or cooltube, even BETTER), and at least a 400w hps....you will get nice dense nugs. A 600w will give you even better results than a 400w. With a 600w hps you should be able to get a BIG, FAT, DENSE nugs. Thats as long as you know what your doing. I see lots of ppl complain about how they got shitty harvests with 400's or 600's but most of the time its because of lack of experience. With a 600w you should easily be able to pull a pound or more of nice nugs. 400w good for 3x3 area 600w good for 4x4 area these are rule of thumb
