Flowering at 6weeks on 20/4?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by m3kgt, Nov 25, 2006.

  1. It seems that my plants are starting to preflower at 6 weeks of age on a 20/4 light schedule. I hope its too early to tell the sex cause most of them have small micro sacs that have me paranoid. One is definitely a female in the first couple pics but others look like the last two pics. My question is why are they even preflowering this early and with the light schedule they're on?

  2. Hey man. First off its cool your plants have started flowering, some strains do start by themselves regardless of light cycle(i dont know the proper name for this, autoflowering?). I guess you've heard of Lowryder, they flower themselves in 24/0 after a few weeks of growth.

Secondly, IMO the first two pics are fem's and the other two are mincy males with little balls attached. I stand to be corrected but thats what i think.

They look healthy all the same though, good job!

  3. Yeah I've heard of autoflower strains like lowriders, but these are bagseed and I wasn't expecting them to flower so soon. I have FoxFarm nutes planned out and this kind of sets everything up sooner as I planned for a long 10 week Veg period. I just topped them yesterday and started adding Big Bloom and Grow Big last week. The supposed male pictured was showing a calcium def. so I added Garden Lime (dolomite) to the last watering. Also they're all under (6) T8 daylight 6500k Fluoros (another reason why I find it odd they're flowering).

  4. i agree with the guy above, the first look female (those are preflowers) and the second are males (the little sacs your worried about). preflowering is normal, dont trip, you can still veg as long as you want, they're just doing their natural thing.

  5. i actually just learned this from another thread... Direwolf explained it to me, and i see that you have topped your plants. Topping will enduce preflowering. its quite valuable to top your plants, 2 tops and you can weed out the damn males.

yes the last 2 pics are showing male preflowers... you went 50/50 tho cant complain

  6. I looked at the pics also a few times and 1 and 4 are female, 2 and 3 are male counting from the top down... Just what I see...
look for the balls easy to see..

  7. nope, like we said above,

    1 & 2 are female preflowers.

    3 & 4 are males

just wanna make sure you know that so you dont chop the wrong one!

  8. it seems to me like s/he knows which ones are female, he just wanted to know why they were preflowering with the light schedule he has them on, sounds like s/he got the answer, so there is really no need to keep pointing out what was said in the first post.

sucks if you got a load of males, gl though:smoking:

  9. There is a difference between flowers and preflowers. Preflowering can and will happen naturally regardless of light cycle.

#3 and #4 look like they will be male, but I wouldn't do anything yet -- the real telltale sign is clusters of balls, and I see only one in each budsite in those photos.

  10. Thanks everyone. I'm going to keep them all under watch for the next few weeks to make sure the the small micro sacs are indeed males. I'm not just going to throw them out this early as a grower becomes attached to each one of their plants no matter if its a boy or girl.;) I'll make sure not to keep them together long enough to get pollinated though.

Thanks man. Thats basically what I wanted to hear.

PS. Pics 1 and 2 are the same female plant. Pics 3 and 4 are the same alleged male plant.

  11. yeah i have to agree that you are having preflowers, congrats! Plants can develop preflowers in Veg under 24/24, so it could just be that due to your light cycle you plants are still in veg. 6weeks, in flower, i would think you would have more budage by 6 weeks ya know. why do nt you drop down to 12/12 and let them girlies fly!
