So when do you start counting your flower week... is it when you first see that little flower developing or the next week when you definitely see flower like pea size almost Sent from my SM-G781U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
When I see the first pistils. With the autos I'm growing it seems to be about four weeks from sprout.
Agree with above, when you first see pistils. Plants dont automatically enter flower upon light change. Takes a week or so.
I agree count time when you see hair's in tops, if you veg a plant for 60 days and flip probably see hair's in a week. If you start a seedling and go straight to 12/12 you will see hair's in three weeks or longer. So budding don't start until you get hair's in top's that's why so many people get things messed up in flowering. Week 5 of flowering is when the buds are really growing big and should be bulking up real good. If you started counting when you flipped at week 5 they would still look like little buds just starting to grow good. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it and pass it on to people who I teach how to grow.
I count from the first day of flip. Transitional phase is included in flower time. This is 5 weeks from the day of flip.
I might be wrong, but I've always considered "stretch" to be kind of its own short phase, as in. So if I flip the lights on a veg plant on the 1st of the month, the next 7-10 days while the plant stretches and starts making bud sites I consider "stretch" Once the plant is no longer rapidly growing, and starts to crave higher levels of phosphorous and potassium, I consider that the "start" of flower, and strain dependent, you got 6 to 12 weeks of "flower" before harvest (typically longer for sativa doms). So on my current crop a few days after flipping to 12/12 I consider this "stretch" while the lights are on 12/12, I'm still feeding veg nutes as stretch plants still chew up a lot of Nitrogen, and while you can see where the buds will be, they haven't really developed yet (no pistils or "hairs") About 7 days later I consider them to now be in "flower" (curvature of the canopy is due to me screwing around with "stadium style" placement where I let the edges grow a little closer to the lights to make up for lower intensity on the corners) Again, this is just how I consider it, but typically I'm looking to see the growth slow down, buds with pistils, and the plants craving for more P and K as signs (to me) that a particular plant is "in flower" Hope this was helpful, best of luck mate, your plants are usually very good looking.
Is the new or old grow its looks good either way Sent from my SM-G781U using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Shouldn't be counting weeks to determine when to harvest. Sure use counting weeks as a guide, I do. The buds will let you know. When you see the buds swell and the hairs recede she is pretty much ready. As far as the original question I start counting when I see the bud sites have hair. Usually about 1 week or so after the flip.
