I'm afraid Pakistan is a hotbed for enemies of the west. Religious fanaticism is ripe in the higher echelons of the Pakistani military - while a portion of the population and the standing govt. is pro-West, the part that's supposed to go after the enemy and fight with us is... against us. America is basically paying a huge yearly bill for Pakistan to keep a lid on it. So far, they are, and I don't want to see an escalation between two nuclear nations - especially not when Pakistan is one of them. At least the Russians had a hint of common sense underneath their pride - religious zealotry, however, doesn't leave much room for common sense. The only question is, how much shit can we take?
Yeah man, where have you been? The Taliban have always used the mountainous no man's land in the Pakistan as a safe haven. Also, I think this shows that American Muslims aren't as moderate as the left wing MSM would have you believe.
under a rock for sure.. i get confused between all this al qaeda and taliban business.. one minute we're in pakistan capturing the leader of al quaede and the next minute it's the taliban.. i'm gonna go back under my rock.. it's more sane under there
Well, they are. Google "pakistani army fighting taleban/al qaeda" and the many pages of results from noted news reporting agencies will tell you that Pakistan is, indeed, fighting America's enemies. Just not the really important ones. The problem is in the Pakistani intelligence organizations, which are infested with radicalism.
This is what happens when religion runs a country... It's the 21st fucking century and we still have people wanted to attack others over religion.
We also funded the Afghanistan Taliban before 9/11. We are funding Libyan rebels right now, I can't wait to see how that one bites us in the ass.
