    Hey,
I have a 400 watt HPS that sits inside a Grow tent that is placed in a walk in closet. The walk in closet though is upstairs on the exterior wall of the house. I live near a State trooper training area. I often see State choppers going over head. I'm sure that they train the pilots on FLIR. Do I have anything to worry about with such a small lamp? I do not vent outside but vent into the spare bedroom from the closet. Do I need to put up any anti FLIR material?

  2. No....Your fine FLIR detects heat being vented from a light to the outside of the house.

    It's IR not XRAY

Plus the po po's need a warrant to FLIR you. They can't just notice it one day on a flyover and bust you. They have to get evidence, and prove it to a judge that your growing.

  3. Thats interesting and how would they determine its from a light source and not a clothing dryer or similar heat source? I saw a demo some years ago and they could see a heat sig. under a car in a driveway at night, thats where the test subject was hiding.

The popo can do what ever they want, they need to produce a warrant if they want to use it as evidence, but they don't need one to satisfy there curiosity, L.E. breaks the law all the time to determine if something or someone maybe worth looking into, that prowler you chased away, he may have been L.E. or someone paying L.E. back trying to get a peek at your grow to confirm it, remember its a job and like many humanbeings cops like to milk it as long as they can for the O.T. or maybe save you up to bust a month or so before reviews for that up grade in pay /rank its all about numbers.

  4. really depends on how hot your room is getting. how good the insulation in your attic is, and where the heat is released from your room. with a 400 you cant be omitting that much heat

  5. Insultation is solid. I now run the lights during the day because no FLIR is working then and I'm not using any electricity other then the light basically. I can manage my temps bc 400 watt again isn't that much. When they do the training at night the light is usally off by then. I also cut the heat off to that room. I think that will solve all my problems

  6. A 400w light is nothing to worry about at all. Runing multiple 1000w lights in one room is when you get problems with FLIR.

    Good luck
