flavoring/coloring weed

  1. This may be the wrong forum, but I figured that people with a decent amount of growing experience would be able to answer this. How are strains such as purple haze colored purple and how are they flavored to taste like grape? I honestly think that they're just sprayed with some sort of flavoring and I think the color comes from special lighting. Could someone clear this up for me? I'm leaving for a bit, so I'll post back in a few hours.

  2. Its all about genetics. Nothing to do with lighting or spraying shit on your plants.

  3. I've smoked probably 100 different strains of weed (few exotics, to be honest) and weed naturally has a "pine" smell / taste. It just seems that weed (even exotics) would not naturally have a fruity taste. I can understand the color having something to do with genetics, but the taste just seems unlikely. but thanks for the post, I think that that will be the most popular answer, so I might just have to do a little grow experiment to find out for myself. But keep the answers commin.

  4. just because all YOU get is green that smells like pine, doesn't mean I do. You must live in an area with that kind of bud. Most of my stuff is skunky, or exotic. It's all genetics.

  5. by pine I meant skunky too. I can get whatever kind of weed I want I'm just saying that regardless of the genetics, marijuana should not taste like an artificially flavored grape dutch.

  6. flavor comes from curing, color comes from colder climates.... genetics play the major role in what your bud will look like and taste like when smoked........

  7. temps in the 63-66 range a few weeks before harvest can purple out some plants..

my plants turn purple from stress, its not a good thing.
