Please read this, or just scan over it you know... and leave a comment, I would appreciate it. It's not long and there is a somewhat twist end.

Inari likes to walk alone in the woods nearby her house.

Well, not really alone; her scrappy pet terrier loyally follows her. The dog doesn't like strangers or other animals getting too close to her. The loyal dog is eager to jump in and protect the helpless girl with his life the second a threat appears.

There is something big and exciting happening today.

This morning she had heard her parents talking about it. Her parent's were being hush, but she snuck up beside the door frame and listened.

It sound's like they are talking about some kind of party, or more like a carnival. But the most gi-normous one ever! With music, and dancing and firework!

    Inari stepped into the kitchen.

“So you heard all that?” Her Dad asks.

    “Yes.”

    “And do you understand?”

“Of course! I'm smart daddy, it's like a carnival in the whole city. This means I won't have to go to school today?”

“uhh…” Her father doesn't have the heart to explain. He looks at the mother with a sad look, and say's, “No sweetie, no school today. Why don't you eat some breakfast then go take Luke out for a walk and play outside.

    “Yay!”

To Inari it is like a snow day but even better, because it is bright and sunny and not too hot outside. Inari's home is fairly secluded in the country. Their closest neighbor is a half-mile down the road. The Kentucky woodland during the temperate day's of September, beams of sunlight on the skin and the tickling puff puff of a cool breeze that ruffles your hair.

Inari likes to climb trees. She doesn't like to climb pine trees, they get you all covered in sap. Cedar are dangerous because the branches are prone to break off into sharp wooden stakes and splinters. The best tree to climb is a good Oak. Inari jumps and jumps till she can grab hold of the lowest branch. She hangs there by her arm. She swings herself back and forth back and forth; the loyal dog's head goes back and forth watching her. She hangs herself upside down, holding the branch under her knees, and stays that way for a minute.

Then she climbs back up on top of the branch. She climbs to the next branch, and the next. She keeps going up and doesn't look down. She wants to get to the very top of the tree.

She keeps going until the branch she is standing on is flexes and bends, and she is unsure it will hold her small weight. Then she stops and looks at the sky and sees the Sun, the daytime crescent moon, and another smaller moon. That wasn't right.

Why is it like that today? Something scary is going to happen.

Below her Luke is getting anxious, scratching at the base of the tree, yipping for her to come down.
She climb's down the tree fast, swings from the last branch and run's with Luke ahead of her back towards the house.

Inari looks at the sky again the second moon seems bigger than before. Luke has stopped running. There is some movement in a dense woodland thicket. The dog, loyal scout and defender is chasing, growling and barking. But Inari sees what caused the movement. It is a Kitsune. She is beautiful, with a pillow-y tail and luxurious orange fur. Inari instantly wants to pet it. She call's Luke down and he listens, Luke's expression and energy is still anxious, there is an air of that anxiety today, but the dog sits obediently on his haunches.

Inari slowly approaches the thing. It is wary of her. Inari walks very slowly, makes her presence as non-threatening as possible. She gets right up next to Kitsune and reaches out to touch it's side.
But agile Kitsune quickly retreats, bounds back. Inari approaches Kitsune again, and again it runs just a few feet away from her.

Kitsune is leading Inari actually, leading Inari back to her fox den. The dog sits and watches them, but doesn't follow.

By the time the fox finally allows Inari to touch her, they are right at the small entrance of the fox's den. Inari runs her fingers through the silky fox hair, she had always wanted to pet a fox but normally they are so timid.

Kitsune is sniffing Inari a lot, and then starts to nip at her shirt sleeve.
    “No,” says Inari “bad.”

But Kitsune bites onto her sleeve and pulls Inari towards her fox den and Inari looks at the sky one last time. That thing is bigger than the moon now.

Kitsune guides Inari into her foxhole and protectively Kitsune wraps her feathered, white tipped tail around Inari. Inari discovers with delight that there are eight fox pups nestled in here too. When Inari tries to squirm the fox mother nips at her, and Inari lies still again.

Outside the object in the sky is growing Inari larger. Luke remains sitting, guarding the entry to the foxhole as two heavenly bodies collide with each other. Then the world starts over.

There is a terrible explosion, and the ground and Inari everything is shaking all around Inari's body, curled into a fetal ball and nestled in with the fox.

The earth is crashing around powerful feng shui of Kitsune's tail keeps them safe. For a long time there was

Inari and the Kitsune lay very still for a very long time and Inari eventually Kitsune spoke.

“Do not worry Inari, I will protect you.”
