So my friend put my bong down on the ground and somehow punctured a hole in the bottom and all the water poured out. He is going to give me money for a new one but I thought I might as well try fixing it since I cant do anything else with it. I tried JB weld but the hole was too big and it just fell out, So I put a cloth of fiberglass on it. Right now its under a lamp drying but I was wondering, is it safe? I know the bottle says the resin shouldn't be inhaled but it should be fine once it's dry? Anyways heres a pic, once its dry I will try putting some water in it. The black stuff is the failed jb weld.
Its a little hard to tell what are holes in the bottom.. Epoxy can work, as long as its not near flame/heat. I dunno about fiberglass, seems like a bad idea since its directly says don't inhale. Take it a glass-shop, looks like an easy fix..
Fiberglass should be fine. As long as it's nowhere near the bowl (and it's not) it won't release any toxins. I can't say if/how much fibreglass bleeds into water but anything leaked probably won't transfer to the smoke.
I have a tube kinda like this, except only the base which holds the tube up is broken. I've been contemplating using fiberglass to recreate the base for it to stand on. How well is the fiberglass holding onto the glass?
Fiberglass holds great, you just have to use some sandpaper and scratch it up a little bit where the fiberglass is going so it can stick. Mine dried and leaks a tiny bit with water in it so I put another little strip where it was leaking from, fingers are crossed
