First post -- Thank you everyone who contributes to the wealth of info on this site.

Despite my considerable research in this matter, I really have no idea what I'm looking at. Is this plant showing its sex yet?

Edited to add: plant is about 5 weeks old, been vegging 24/0 until last night. I realize that it is too early to tell, but I thought it was worth seeking advise in case there are any pre-flowering indications. I would like to find out soon for cloning purposes.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Bump... Anyone? If my question is dumb please forgive a newbie.

  3. I dont think those are the "2 hairs" your looking for.

The pistils come on white not green(from what I have read), I think that might just be growth.

Plus I think you need to 12/12 it first to get it to show sex.

  4. I don't think those are pistils. The good news is, however, that they aren't pollen sacks either!!! Plants can definitely show sex with pre-flowers before they are switched to 12/12.

  5. Just new growth.

    Good luck.

  6. That's what I thought... thanks fellas.

  7. looks to be a male to me. If you look at the middle picture there is a little male pod starting to grow right next to the "new growth" right where the stem and leaf stem meet. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but thats growin for ya

  8. I disagree. I just think we are looking two very tight nodes. Do you see how there are two sets of branches, one on top of the other. Well, what you see as a ball is probably well developed "new growth" by now.

My other clue is that the branches are not alternating.

    Peace.

  9. Yea that looks like new growth to me. Switch to 18/6 veg time if u wanna see preflowers

  10. AGREED.

    all are pics of males.

  11. Thanks for the input. Do these pics shed any more light?

  12. I disagree on the male diagnosis - I think it's too soon to tell. I vegged 24/0 for 7 weeks before I got pistils/pre-flowers. There's no mistaking pistils when you see them for the first time - two white "hairs" popping out of the single "balls" (calyx). What you don't want to see are multiple "balls" in a cluster - that's the sign of a male. GL!

  13. Do you have alternating nodes?

  14. A simple way to give weight to the differing opinions on here is to look at how many posts a person has. Fewer than a 1000 would be sketchy to me. Someone devoted enough to this forum for 1000 posts is probably knowledgeable and trying to give you good information. Disregard that I have about 15 posts lol.

  15. No..which means it's too early to tell, correct?

  16. Not necessarily. Pre-flowers will often appear before alternating nodes.
