I have been thinking about growing for a couple years now, however it was something that I ever followed through on. In the next month I plan to change that however. The problem is I am not an enthusiast so I am in the dark on how to go about it. I'm under the impression that with a proper set up and carbon scrubber the smell will be to a minimum even while flowering as long as I don't turn off the fans or open if up. I need some help with everything that is needed. Strain/type: The tent is 2'-2'-4' approximately. What would be a good strain to grow for my first time that would fit without too much LST. I was thinking at least 2 plants 4 at most. The less smelly the better since I want it to be a stealth grow. Soil/fert: Was probably going to go the easy route and just go MG organic mix or a tomato specific mix. Now for fertilizer, something easy. Any ideas? Also, this question also goes hand in hand with the which strain, but what type of pots should i use and how big? Ventilation/odor control: I have no idea where to start. Lights: I was thinking CFL. What wattage should be used and how many? What type of set up? Misc equipment: Do I really need a ph/nutr monitor? Anything else that is missing I would have rather just experimented and figured out myself, but I don't have the money right now to screw around or mess this up. I know my first grow may not be great or successful, but the important thing is getting the setup right the first time. Thanks in advance!
1) You should check out a seed bank website they have tons of information on different strains and the bud porn is pretty sweet but as far as strain you could try lowryder Cannabis Seeds Attitude Marijuana Seeds 2) MG isn't very good for growing cannabis (for whatever reason) but it burns to hell because it has nutes added to it that get released in uncontrollable amounts etc....you should really find something with no nutes. I personally will be using Pro-Mix for 2nd grow but a lot of people you Fox Farm. As far as Ferts you can use the MG stuff but it would be better (if you can afford it) to get the Fox Farm stuff. 3) Heres a link to help you out with CFls http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-beginners/122824-kamels-cfl-guide.html 4) At the very least you should be monitoring you ph otherwise the grow will turn out pretty haywire...most peoples sink water comes out no where near the range required to grow a plant lol Hope this helps
Ah, I thought the MG organic mix didn't have any time release ferts, guess I was wrong. Water wise, I have a water softener, sot sure if that does anything for the ph of the water though. So I would need a ph tester and chems to change the water ph? Thanks for the info on the lights. Still need some help with ventilation and a carbon scrubber.
Also, will that grow tent work out alright? If everything is done right it won't smell too much do you think?
IMO I think soft or hard water refers to its EC (or nutrient content) so someone correct me if Im wrong someone but those might just do something similar to RO or distilled water (maybe not) http://forum.grasscity.com/do-yourself/569506-diy-carbon-filter-compendium.html That link will help you with a scrubber The thing you have to remember is that the scrubber as well as ducting etc cuts down on the "push power" of your fan. So as long as you have enough CFM/ "push power" to push the hot air through the scrubber you will be fine.
