1. hi guys. im a first timer using cfl and fox farm products. recently this new seedling started having brown rusty spots. it starts out from the buttom leafs but its starting to catch up to the upper fan leaves. it dries and it dies. i can literally bend the leaf and it will crack. help me out!

2. lol no one wants to answer?

3. Explain how much fox farm you are using. Looks like nutrient burns to me. Slow down on the nutes.

4. i put like 4 tea spoon in a gallon. i also thought if this was mg deficiency but im not too sure

5. Of grow big. Big bloom. Or what?

Looks more like a mag issue. What's your ph?

7. For 2 months that plant is kinda small. Maybe bring the lights closer without burning it.

8. I think this could be from magnesium deficiency or just nute burns

Get a pic up of you're whole room with the light

9. oh man thanks for all the replies! im using big bloom and im glad others also thinks it could be mg deficiency. thank god to internet for researching. anyways here are some pictures. the leaves are looking pretty terrible. as for the 2 month one i know it looks small but its bushy as hell. it has like 20 nodes counting from buttom. not sure if thats alot but i feel liek it is haha.

so as much as id like to believe its just a mg deficiency the 2 month old is starting to look like its having the same symptoms. same looking spots starting to show on some of the plants. as for the PH i dont check nor have anything to check with. i knew i would have to buy it one day.

kind of scared im gonna loose them both. i hate worrying lol

10. It is very likely you can lose both of them but if you act now you can save them and bounce back like nothing ever happened. I would suggest getting some sort of ph tster right away then flush the shit out of that soil. There might be a mineral build up of some sort. I also suggest after flush give them some beneficial bacteria like great white. Your local hydro shop should have some free samples, hopefully. Get that and put that in right away after flush. Molasses also feeds the microbes in the soil so you should start using that too... but first u need a ph tester pronto. Ph the water to 6.5 and i would say use about 2-3 gallons of it and flush both of them with 3 gallons each ph'ed at 6.5.

What ever is in the soil will be washed away, including beneficial bacteria thats y after u wash them out you want to add new bacteria to the soil and some food for them as well(molasses).

Also try to get some air pots... Also make sure those plants are getting fresh air... By the looks of it they aren't getting any.

If your using fox farms you def need to flush the hell out of them, grab something to check ph with, and something to adjust ph with. Simple fish tank ph adjusters from Walmart will do just fine. Try and keep your ph around 6.5 (generic cuz your not gonna get exact with a simple ph tester). You may want to flip that thing pretty soon. It's not gonna get much bigger just using cfl's. And if you let it gettin big while only using cfl's, your not gonna be able to get light where you need it and lack come harvest.

12. what kind of ph tester should i get? the one where i take soil in the container to test? or the stick that goes inside the soil? or the ones everyone use for hydroponics with ph up and down? i feel that the one with ph up and down is the best so i can actually control the ph level. what do you guys suggest?

13. OAKTON® Waterproof EcoTestrThis one is kinda expensive but this one is widely used. Test the ph of the water with all ferts inside and run that through the soil. Test the run off too and make sure its around 6.5

14. You should get a l ph meter like the one i showed earlier. That one is good too but its more precise to use a meter. I did use that water sample type and hated it because the colors never matched up to my liking, plus its messy but it can be used. Better than absolutely nothing.

Also Taimadou check my current grow. My current grow is 5 weeks old today. Im using airpots and constant fresh air.

15.
i was thinking about this.. what do you all think

Amazon.com: General Hydroponics GH1514 Ph Control Kit: Patio, Lawn & Garden
For a first timer that will work fine. At least it did when I first started, but I have a lot of experience with raising fish, and I use tons of color testers to check everything, so it may have come easier to me than it would to others. Idk. An electronic is the most precise way to go by far. But sometimes out of budget.

16. There salt locked witch is a common problem with fox farm and first time growers flush with 2 times the water then soil and stop feeding for a wile the leafs that have the burns will not get better but you can stop it from spreading

Ps look for Azomite it will cover all your trace mineral needs just top dress water and your done

17. xxxLaharlxxx, that is awesome! i cant believe thats five weeks. makes mine look soo weak. are you still using cfls? if so how many?

and thanks for the replies people. yea i agree, if i had the money i would invest in a electronic ph meter and definitely looking to get it in the near future.

dkburns180, how would i mix this azomite? is there some sort of ratio just like how people put perlite to mix with their soil?

18. Azomite can be mixed into the soil before planting or used as a top dress later. The ratio is 1/4 cup to a gallon of soil used.

Sounds good but don't wait to feed after a big flush. Flush them with 2-3 times water than soil, then feed right after flush. But make sure you Ph the mix before you feed.
