Hi there I saw a lot of pics that some people cut of leafs Why they do it? I growing weed And i like to know how to do it Which leafs should i remove?
Controversial topic, controversial answers. Pruners believe cutting improves yield, but have only anecdotal evidence. The only experimental evidence I've seen says pruning decreases yield. You owe it to yourself to not cut on the plant during at least one grow. I've seen first timers greatly harmed by cutting off too much. Here's a side-by-side experiment that showed a 12% decrease from pruning, compared to not pruning. Defoliation Side By Side - Bushy Plants Every leaf on a plant makes food and provides energy to the whole plant. They should be viewed as solar panels. One thing you can do to improve yield is to increase the plants' surface area exposed to light, if there is excess room in the grow space. Gently bend and tie branches off to the sides a bit, a strategy called Low Stress Training. The plants will grow more branches and leaves to take advantage of the increased light hitting them. An alternative is to increase the surface area exposed to light by simply growing more plants, and letting them grow they way they want to. That's what I do, after having tried the fancy stuff.
Agree with bkarnaze, I've come to find this topic causes arguments among growers. I only recently found out people defoliate their plants and from a botanic, general, common sense point of view, it makes absolutely no sense. Plant training is where it's at. The people the defoliate do so because they believe removing leaves and allowing the light to directly hit the flower is better for the flowers. In reality the best way to increase light intake is as bkarnaze said, LST. Nevertheless, the next person to comment could believe that defoliation works wonders and give you the complete opposite advice. Whatever works for you, buddy.
