First time Stoner here, help?

1. I live in the USA, Kansas and we have the same problem. But honestly, It is not that big of a deal as long as it's good weed. Try buying it from a 'higher-up' source, or a dispensary, they would no more about it. Information about weed is like the game of telephone, the actual name gets lost in the people that buy and sell. 
 
2. You're going to have to ask around on that one. But, I have noticed that from experience the more 'foresty' , tea-like, or pure the bud smells, the better it is. But you have to have experience to really know. Try asking around who has the best bud in town. You just have to know the right people.
 
3. Definitely buy a pipe. That is going to get you way higher than by a joint. J's waste a ton of weed, and it may be difficult to roll one if you are just starting to smoke and do not have a roller. I never smoke J's.
 
4. You would have to go directly to the source (growhouse, dispensary, big-time dealer...) something along the lines of that. They usually know what they are selling.

When you first start smoking you wanna know what strain it is...but after a while you stop caring though i just smoked some really fire sour diesel. But theres no way you can tell unless a dealer says what it is( which may not be true) or its purple, in which case its purp. You can tell its different be looking at it, it wont look the same every time unless its the same strain

You'll know the quality when you smoke it but if it's really sticky, a lot of crystals, and overall just looks really good it'll usually be good.

1. Yes, most dealers anywhere in the world don't actually know why strain the weed I that they're selling. They might tell you a name so that it sounds good so that you buy it, but it's more than likely made up.

2. I would highly recommend picking up a scale for $10-20 just so you can make sure your dealer isn't shorting you. If the weed looks good (nice full nugs, lots of crystals on the buds) then it's good quality. Quality isn't really hard to judge. If it gets you high, that's all that matters.


3. Joints are quick and convenient, but waste a lot as they burn freely, and they make you smell like weed really bad. Pipe are the next most convenient way. They save weed compared to a joint because you can cover the bowl so that no excess smoke is released. Bongs are great for smoking in doors, but they're too big to take outside in public. Vapes are good if you're looking for the healthiest way to get high, but are sort of awkward if you're with other people.

4. Just smoke the weed. If it gets you high, then you're good to go. Strain names really aren't important. If anything, just try to find out f it's indica or sativa. Indica is more of a sleepy body high, but sativa is a head high an more energetic and more productive.

I hate to say it, but you are completely, and utterly wrong. Purple bud can come from many different factors. Do some research before you try and call someone out next time. Also, I've never heard of a strain called "purp" before...

 

Q1 - You'll be buying street weed; so theres no real way of knowing unless its straight from the grower. You should be more worried whether the weed is good or not than what kind it is if you don't have access to dispensaries.
 
Q2 - Look at it. Smell it. Touch it. Check out the "Stash Jar" section here, you can learn what good weed looks like there. But since you're buying street weed thats not always an option and you just gotta trust in your dealer. So focus on finding a trustworthy person to do business with is paramount.
 
Q3 - If its your first time I recommend a basic glass pipe. Just go to your local headshop and pick out a cheap one that looks nice to you. They usually have an extra hole in them known as a "carb" that you have to cover with your finger while smoking from it and release when inhaling. You'll get the hang of it pretty quick its not complicated, but people do seem to have a little trouble their first time. 
If you don't have access to such a thing; I'd say buying a cigarette roller and papers is your best bet, diving straight into rolling by hand will just just be frustrating i'd think 
In the future look for anythign and everything! Variety is the spice of live; weed is no different' I'm always switching up how I enjoy the herb. Sometimes I use my vape; sometimes my bong; sometimes I run my vape through my bubbler, sometimes i smoke bubble hash, sometimes I make my own BHO and take dabs in my oil rig, sometimes I use dry pipes, sometimes I roll up a blunt; the possibilities are almost endless
 
Q4 - Once again' theres almost no way to really know man. You could post pics and get some guesses but in the end so many strains are so similar, and for all you know it could be some local growers undocumented strain ort something imported thats unknown its just not worth even bothering unless you can go directly through a grower (yourself?) or a dispensary, coffee shop, etc. 

 

The day a Canadian tries to teach me about weed lol. Get out of little France and come to sputh Florida or many other parts of the United States and you'll know what I'm talking about. Lol wow
