First time plant....

  1. Hey everyone,

I've always been a plant person and recently found a seed in some dispencery grade stuff we got. Figured I would try to grow it and it's been about two weeks now. Trying to find out what's up with my plant. It just started getting brown spots on the edge of a leaf.

-miracle grow organic with some extra perlite (black bag mg organic mix)
    -roleandro 600w light
-decholorinated tap water (pH of 7)
-i have the foxfarm trio but have not started that yet. Read online not to use till about week 3 and to cut the suggested mix by about 1/3.( If anyone can chime in on their regime with the trio that would be helpful )

Light schedule has been 22 on and 2 off.
I moved the light a littler higher two days ago thinking it may have been too close and causing the brown on the leaf. It was about 1 foot away. I have moved it to 1.5 feet away from the top of the plant.

Temps have been ranging from 75-80
    Humidity of about 50-60.

Just wondering if this is nutrition related or just from the light. Seems like the rest of the plant is doing well. Strong stalk (I keep a fan in the room that keeps the plant slightly blowing) nice green color. Otherwise looks healthy to me. (This is my first time sooo...)

Thanks in advance for the help.

  2. Do you use reverse osmosis water

Nevermind i see declore tap .

2nd plant ive seen this week with what looks like calcium deficiency
But each use tap water and had miracle-gro soil .

  3. Dechlorinated tap water. I check the pH afterwards and it's always at 6.8-7

  5. The more i look it might have been light bleaching, you said you moved your light up . Keep an eye on it ,
Maybe when someone else chimes in they may give more insight on your situation

  6. Miracle grow tends to have time release nutrients and is generally bad for growing Cannabis imo because it makes it hard to determine when to feed, have you tested your soils' ph? also did you rinse your perlite before adding it?

  7. I thought the same from gathering info online. When I first noticed it, it was on the tip at new growth. When the leaf would be the most vulnerable (if I'm not mistaken). What would be a good distance to keep the light. It's at 18inches now.

    600w roleandro from Amazon ‍♂️

    It's in a 3'x2'x6' closet.

  8. Did not rinse the perlite. I also didn't use alot.
I assume now your supposed to rinse it ‍♂️.

What would would you recommend when I transplant this thing? I have the fox farm trio for nutes.

  9. Your light is an actual 134w draw
How close did you have it to the plant

  11. I don't rinse my perlite , oops

That light has a 134 w draw from the wall so i would suggest during veg 24 inches

  12. Oh wow. Let me go move that bitch now lol.
Since we're on the subject at what point do you consider a plant in vegetation vs seedling?

  13. Myself i would say 4th or 5th node
Once the root system have been established
If that's a photoperiod it will be in veg from 4th or 5th node until you flip to 12/12 .
So if you are using nutrients use "grow" nutes .

  14. I always rinse mine I'm not sure if it's standard to be honest, but a good thing to do is to get a cup water ph it to 6.5 then mix in a cup of soil and check the ph again and with some simple math you can determine how much ph up or down you will need for your soil, run off is also a decent test but it's better to get the ph right before the transplant

  17. This is a good thought, but I zoomed into the last photo to look at the newer leaves and at least 2 have similar spots on the edge. Small, but brown.

This makes me think it’s a combo of light and a CalMag situation, but tough call as the rest of the plant looks very nice.

I might just wait now that you pulled back the light. Still it’s always good to have some real gentle nutes that you can put a bit of CalMag into as well as spray out a hand squirt bottle.

I would lay some mist down as some nutes can make it through the leaf. Though damage is damage, misting is a good way to water when tiny.

I think the n crazy new set of leaves, will be the ones that answer some of your questions.
