Hey all I have a 5x5 with two cheap end led lights I only have two because I just thought they are a cheaper end light so lights probably aren’t as good the brand is green fingers, I have 6 girls 3 sorta under each they are all autos 3 are the same as each, now I have two on one side that are the exact same height but ones about 8 inches taller so I have moved the top of the plant out of direct light not by heaps I have the lights 18iches away because they are in flower and that’s what the lights said, the other three, two are the same height and ones shorter by about 8 inches, so one side the light is to close for one other side light is to far for the other, is there anything I can do about this I have trained them or anything it’s my first time just wanted to see what would happen, also I’ve been trying ti figure out if my tall one is stressed or under or over watered as well I gave it a bit before and will check if it’s changed but it’s always looking sad when I check, any help would be much appreciated the lights when I bought them both said they were 1200w but other websites have said 300-450w so unsure of actual wattage
Why not purchase a light meter? I use a Dr. Lux and can now measure the ~light getting to the canopy. I don't depend on height assumptions. I know that Dr. Lux isn't the best device, since one could use a quantum meter for better results, but you get accustomed to using what you have. I think you can even use a phone app nowadays, although, this is really not the way I'd go. Anyhow, if you do order a lux meter, I would recommend 20-40K at the canopy, depending on the age of the plant. I normally kick the lighting up to 60K-90K during flower. check the label on the light and it should say.
I agree with trojangrower about getting a lux meter(if your light is full spectrum, lux meter do not work on the red/blue leds) and 20-40K in veg but plants do need a range 35-60k in flower IMO.
Use plant stands to bring your shorter plants up to even out your canopy. This way all your plants will be the same distance from the light. You can use milk crates or inverted pots or whatever you can find to raise the shorter plants up.
