  2. Of course you can, you can't guarantee the quality of the parts as its not DIY... but it's got everything most single bucket systems have.
if you're lazy/don't own tools; buy it

To make that system is very, very easy.
First you need the pumping column from GH. $12? Also purchase a grommet from a hardware store.
An air pump from any hydroshop or pet store $10?
You can then buy two buckets - 1x 5 gallon, 1x 3 gallon (drill holes in smaller bucket, add medium and insert into larger bucket) Or simply use a 5 gallon with a net pot. (Under $20)
You can find plans or other DIY instructions all over these forums and on the net.
I believe when you buy it as a kit, it comes with nutrients and hydroton.
You could easily save $20 by building it yourself. The savings really come when you make the larger systems. I saved a good $200 on my 6 pot system by DIYing.

You mentioned this was your first hydro grow, but not your first grow in general. If you already have nutes and such, and plan to expand to more buckets in the future I would DIY. If you have *nothing*, and only want the one it's probably better just to buy the kit and eat the $20.

    Cheers,

  5. That system make very easy i agree with "OUtlAnDeR"

  6. does the drip system work well compared to a bubble bucket?

  7. just say i put some nutrients in the reservoir how do they work like do i have to dump out the mix every week or ???

  8. I grew a crop with both systems side by side and saw no difference in yield

  9. I empty and refill my res's every week or so. Others I have seen post here dont bother but I think it is a good idea to give your plants the proper ratio of nutes and the res changes as nutes are used up by the plants over time

  10. and to flush jjust put regular distilled water in the chamber?

  11. I use tap water when its time to flush ...but thats only in the last week or so and my tap water is very good.

If you mean the res change..I empty it and add fresh water and fresh nutes

  12. any recommended websites for lights and parts for a good price?

  13. I like htg supply they sell quality 3.5 gallon bubble buckets on ebay for $40 shipping included! Thats what im using for now until i expand.
