Hello, I am currently trying to decide whether to grow or not... I have a few questions. I do realise that most of my questions can be answered throughout various post, but I'd rather them answered personally and not dig through a bunch of post Anyways, I am wanting to start off growing about 3 plants from a bag I currently have. I am not sure how serious I will get into this, so these seeds are fine with me. My questions reflex the grow room more. I am thinking about a space in my closet. I can either place the plants on a top shelf and have 2 ft to grow height, or on a space built around my hot water heater which would give it 4-5 ft to grow. The only problem there is that there wouldn't be as much width as the plant grows (would eventually pass the shelf leaving only about 1 or 2 ft width until pass the shelf). Is this enough space? The next thing is venting the heat/air. I read on superjoints grow guide, for a small grow, just opening the closet door/inspecting them is more than enough. Is this true or should I place a small fan near them? Also will residue stink my clothes during flowering or should I place it in a different room? Approximately how many lights should there be for 3 plants and voltage/type? Can I buy these lights at Home Depot? (I saw halogen "grow lights" there) Would an open baking soda box, 1 inch of charcoal on bottom of plant soil, some plug in air fresheners and a cracked window be enough odor control? Next is probably the most obvious for a newbie like me. Exactly how safe is this? If I cut all connections with pot and no one actually knows about it, what are the chances a cop will look through the thermal thing at my house? Would the amount of lighting for 3 plants generate enough heat to trace? And how often do cops actually use these devices at random? Will 3 plants yield enough for 2 smokers for a while? Or should I just go ahead and make it 4? I usually smoke about an ounce in 2 weeks, sometimes 1 lol (I live in the south, grass is cheap). Also if grown correctly, even though the uncertainty, will the bud be somewhat decent.... at least as good as it was possibly better? I chose the weed I did because it was extremely dried when I bought it (shake got a good as deal lol) and it gets me really high for how dry it obviously is. So in it's earlier stages, should be equal or just as good right? Well thanks for all those who will help! I will probably have more questions when I have decided and/or in the process. I am sorry if most of my questions have been answered and thank those who help a fellow pot user. EDIT: Would the hot water heater stealth my operation or help in anyway (the plants will not touch the heater nor be disturbed by it, there is a box that has panel and sheetrock insulating it).
that could be enough space if you train the hell out of them and make them gorw the way you want to fit ur space.... you should put a fan blowing on them tho.. as for light for veg stage you should use a Metal Halide light then for flowering use a High Pressure Sodium light, Since ur low on funds I would just get a 400 wat High Pressure Sodium light, that should be enough for 3 - 4 plants...that Halogen light you saw at home deopot wont work.. you can use Floresent lights, but you will need a few of them.. and would get better results with an HPS light. growing is never "safe" unless its leagal where u are lol but if you are doing a small grow and no one really knows then you dont have MUCH to worry about... Ive never heard of putting charcoal in the soil to help smell so I would scratch that Idea, a few plug in air fresheners and and some air freshener in spray bottle with a window open should be fine... as for the infrared lights that piggys use to bust you, they dont use that shit too often so you probably dont have to worry about that.... . if anyone has any more imput to add to this feel free too, Im not a pro, just a nub that reads alot and trying to help
Ok I have some more questions. Lets assume when I grow, I chose a spare bathroom which is actually only a half bathroom and extremely small. Would the 400watt high pressure sodium light still be enough as long as I keep them 3 inches above the plants? Also the walls are not white, I read white paper is a good idea, but I was thinking maybe hanging white towels? And how important exactly is white walls? just seems easier than placing a bunch of pieces of paper everywhere... Also should I try to keep moisture in the room?
