First time growing Questions

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by hesperus, Dec 25, 2019.

  1. Hello Everyone

First of all i wish you all a Merry christmas !

I smoke weed for about 7 years and i want to start growing, i had an attempt before but i failed as i had to move in another country.
Now i know for sure i will be living here for atleast a few years, i can start growing without any problems.

This is the setup im planing to buy for now
    [IMG]

Do you guys have any advice, is this a good setup ? Did i forgot something ?
I'm planing to grow around 2-3 plants, as i'm not sure how many plants i can fit in a 60x60x140 cm tent (i will grow autoflower seeds)

so my questions for you guys are :

Is that a good setup for a begginer ?
Is there something that i forgot to put on the list ?
How many autoflowers can i fit in a 60x60x140 tent ?
    How many Non-Autos can i fit in a 60x60x140 tent ?
Wich strains are more "newbie" friendly ?
Should i expect more than 10 grams per plant (auto) with this kind of setup ?
18/6 light cycle would be ok for autos ?
Can i use both (Veg and Bloom) together in the vegetative stage (i saw there is an option "Veg - off/on" "bloom - Off/on" what will be happening if i use both of them at the same time ?
Do you guys have any advices for me ?

Thank you for your time and answers ^_^

  2. Everything looks good except the lighting. Pick up a ppm meter also. That way u know how strong u are feeding. I grow 2-4 plants in my 2x2x4. Growing 3 this time. I’d suggest starting with fem photo and not autos until u get a grow or two in without any issues

In my opinion, Lighting either go with hps, they do run hot and cost more in electric but are a cheap option, u can rduduce heat with an extracted hood. or splash the cash and go with quantum boards (LED) they will cost more, but run cooler and cost less to run. Also look into Bluelab truncheon there bit more expensive but very accurate.

  4. A 5.3 ft tall tent is much is much too short.
    (5.3 ft) - (1 ft bucket) - (1.5 ft Light Distance) - (0.5 ft Light from ceiling) = (2.3 ft tall plants)

    I grow only autos.
With autos you have little control over plant height, once the strain is selected.
Even topping and training can't control a plant that wants to throw out more vegetation than the space can contain.
A single, larger auto can fill a 3 ft x 3 ft tent, and grow into the lights if it flowers late.
My 9 ft tall grow space is too short for many autos.

    Autos can yield huge.
    I have a 2 x 4 ft tent, and grow 2 autos in it.
They typically yield 4-8 oz each in hydroponics while following the high humidity recommendations of the Vapor Pressure Deficit chart from seed to harvest without bud rot.

If I had your 2 ft x 2 ft tent, I'd grow one auto, and expect several ounces.
If variety is needed you might be able to fit 2 smaller plants in.

Mephisto has some nice short autos like 24Carat, StrawberryNuggets, SourCrack, CremeDeLaChem that would fit nicely, because they stay under 3 ft.

My average auto height is about 4 ft.
Training can keep them shorter if there's room, but topping can't.

You should get an LED grow light.
This light has gotten some good reviews for being a good value.

You could use this one dimmed, and it would also work un-dimmed in a slightly larger tent.

A cheaper, lower power version is available, but it's not dimmable, and might be too much for the plants.

  5. I bought my tent from Growers House, their brand, good value.quality, get taller than you though at fisrt you would need.
Just because they sell it doesn't mean it works. Just means they sell a lot to a lot of people that thought it would work.
I buy all my bags from 274garden.com. Good price, excellent quality and all dimensions are listed.
Lights are expensive. it should hurt when you buy one.

  6. U don’t have to have to have a lot of head room to grow. I have a tent that’s 7’-11” and A tent that’s 4’ Tall. I’ve grown 8 plants in my 2x4 and 4 plants in my 2x2. While I wish i woulda gotten the 5’ tall tent the 4’ is doing me well with a qb135 kit

Tell you what mate, I like mars leds, got a few of the old ones, but they ain’t half full of shit.
The info claims it’s “much better than a 600w hps”
    Says it’s a 600w led.
Then says it pulls 2.5g per watt which means like 1.5kg but if you look closely you’ll see that it’s only actually a 100w led and not the 600w that it claims to be...twice.
Be a good light for a small space but fuck me the info is about as credible as I am a sausage roll.

(Edit) fuck me running the top one was a “1000w” light that claims to be able to replace a 1000w hps.
Absolutely not a hope in hell. A 1000w hps can indeed pull 1.5kg in the right hands. That’s a150w led though. Maybe get 250g at absolute best from that and I dare say you’d have to be pretty fuckin Jedi to do it aswell lol.

Again, I do use and quite like my marshys but gotta make sure folk know what they’re buying and don’t base assumptions on the ever so slightly exaggerated Mars specs haha

  8. I've never used that brand, but I saw a good review of them recently, and the price is right.

  10. Thank you guys for your answers, i learned something new wich is amazing, i will buy a 80x80x180 tent (a noname one as i don't have much money), and i will go for a Spider Farmer 1000W and hopefully i can grow 2 plants, i don't need much weed as i only grow it for myself and my wife, do you guys think it will work this way ? also.. do you guys think i can get more than more than 1.5 oz in total from both plants ?

  11. SF 1000W would be under powered for the 80x80 tent. SF 2000W would give you 30 watts per sq ft.

With the SF 2000W you would easily reach your 1.5oz per plant.

  12. I pulled just over 100g in my 2x2x4. 1.5iz is very doable

  13. Im in the uk and run a 150w Quntum board by invisible sun with there top spec samsung leds. Run a micro grow in a fridge! just 1 auto in a bubble bucke, only done 3 runs so far. 1st run 6,1/2 oz. 2nd run 5,1/2 oz then the last one was a disaster and still pulled 3 oz. This is dry weight. If ur in the US HLG are supposed to be good.
