First time grower

  1. Hi All,

I'm excited to share my journey into my 1st time grow :headbang:

    Grow details:
    - three 5x5 tents for flower, one 4x4 tent for veg/seedlings/clones
    - 1 630w CMH light fixture in each tent with 2 315w 3100k bulbs in ea fixture
    - 2 inline fans (6in for 5x5s and 4in for 4x4) per tent (exhaust & intake) with a carbon filter in ea tent
    - 16in hanging oscillating fans in each 5x5 and 6in clip fans in 4x4
    - 6 AF Purple Kush seedlings, day 14 from seed
    - 10 AF Pineapple Express, day 8 from seed
    - 11 photoperiod Whit Widow, six are day 14 from seed and five are day 8 from seed
    - Soilless mix with 4 parts Promix HP and 1 part worm castings
    - nuts will be Botanicare Calmag Plus, Botanicare Grow base for veg, Botanicare Bloom base for flower, AN Bud Candy, AN Big Bud and AN Overdrive as additives during flower. I may use an enzyme cleaner, but undecided on that yet
    - AFs are in 2 gallon air pots and Photos in 3 gallon air pots
    - AFs are on 20/4 light schedule seed to harvest and photos on 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flower

The goal is to harvest every 10 days give or take. I will be using LST for the AFs, tying down in circular pattern and mainlining my photos for 8 main colas. All my plants right now r from seed but if I will clone from a strong mother when I find one. I will be adding Purpke Kush photos into my perpetual grow which r on the way and hopefully Green Crack...but the jury's still out on whether I wanna grow a sativa dominant strain indoors.

I have a video journal of my grow on YouTube that I will post here as updates but will also post pics from time to time.

Thx for following along with my grow and I hope u enjoy

I look forward and hope to get feedback and advise from all the expert and experience growers in this community  I also hope newer growers can learn from my grow and mistakes :)

    Cheers

  3. Latest video journal entry...

    - discussing some temp/humidity issues I started having with the photoperiod White Widows
    - some measures I take to try to prevent my fear of bug infestations (and some things I'm doing to tempt fate :p)
    - started light nuts on the girls 14 days from seed
    - update on all the girls (check out the REALLY weird/deformed Purple Kush Auto???)
    - I think I forgot to mention in video that I have started germinating another 8 White Widow photos to keep the perpetual grow going

    I'll post some pics tomorrow

    Cheers

  4. First LST training ever and I managed not to hurt/damage either of the 2 girls I've started on. Here r some pics. I'd love to hear what u guys think of my 1st attempts here...be brutally honest, I got thick skin :p I'm trying to train these girls (my autos that is) in a circular pattern by bending and tying down in attempts to get as many main colas as I can. I will continue to tie down the main stem and its shoots till they start flowering, then I'll just be defoliating and making sure that the colas r spaced out sufficiently. I wanna start as early as possible so the stems r easier to bend but these r the only 2 girls (15 days from seed) that r tall enough to do it with. I think another 2 might be ready in 2 or 3 days. I am wondering if you guys think I'll have trouble with the fan leaf on each plant that is touching the soil right now (see pics)? I didn't think so cause I expect the stem to start to turn up, but pls let me know if I'm wrong about that. Thx

    Cheers

  6. So I did it  I broke my first stem :frown: got a little ambitious with my training and saw the main stem start to break. It wasn't a clean break, just about a quarter split. I don't have any pics of the split but I do have a couple pics of my attempt at fixing it...
    20180812_221124.jpg 20180812_221130.jpg

    A few questions:

    - did I do an ok job or does my fix need fixing?
    - will I need to remove the tape at some point to allow the branch to grow?
    - how long before I can resume training?

Thx for any advice anyone can give me

    Cheers

  7. And we're back with an update video :) I feel that a lots going on and wanted to give an update before a bunch more changes to the garden take place over the next few days. Here's what we talk about in this update:

    - status of the first 3 Purple Kush autoflowers we LST trained and show how they're doing (including the one I snapped :( )
    - quick visual update on the Pineapple Express autos
    - over all update of all White Widow photoperiod plants (now 19 potted plants)
    - discuss and show in detail the status of the 6 White Widow photos that are 18 days from seed and will be mainlined/manifolded (1st steps anyways) in the next day or two

Hope you enjoy! Please share your thoughts :) I will also try to post pics tomorrow

    Cheers

  8. What's up all! In this video journal update I focus on the autoflowers my grow. A lots been going on. The girls have been maturing nicely and I've started as early as I could to LST train them so we can get many coloas and max yield. Most of the training with these autos has been awesome but I did have some drama :( I also give a sneak peak at the newest addition to my grow :) I hope you enjoy

  13. Hi friends, I was hoping to get some of ur expert feedback on a couple of potential issues i may be having with 2 of my girls.

The first is some tiny yellow spots (pics below) i found on one of my White Widow photoperiod plants when I came into the tent today when the lights came back on. They were not there yesterday and appear to only be on the fan leaves of this plant. I mainlined the plant yesterday. There does not appear to be any bugs un the underside of the leaves and I don't see any on the top side. Finally, there are 19 plants in the same 5x5 tent and this is the only plant (so far) that I see this issue on.

    20180817_181141.jpg 20180817_181154.jpg 20180817_181207.jpg

The other issue is with one of the Purple Kush Autoflower plants that I have been training. It is also signs of problems on the leaves of the plant. What I noticed here were some "chunks" on the leaves seem to have been deteriorated or possibly eaten off (pics below)? Again, I don't see any visible bugs on or under the leaves and currently it only appears to be on 3 small leaves. I will be receiving a jeweler's loop in the next couple days so I can examine the leaves closer for potential critters not visible to the naked eye. Again, this is the only plant in a 5x5 tent of 16 autos that r exhibiting this issue.

    20180817_181221.jpg 20180817_181601.jpg 20180817_181307.jpg 20180817_181244.jpg 20180817_181336.jpg

Thx in advance for any insight anyone can give me on what I might be dealing with here

    Cheers

  16. Update on photoperiod plants. Mainlining (manifolding/fluxing) progress. Discuss 2 different mainlining variations being used side by side to see if there are benefits to either, ie. time, quality of colas, total yield, etc.

    Cheers

  17. Took clones 11 days ago and I honestly feel I did one thing after another to prevent success (although I worked just as hard to fix each mistake :p), I'm finally seeing results indicating that these babies just might make it :)

List of mistakes I've made with these:

    - did not get them into water or the cloning solution quick enough after cutting. Basically cut them from the plant and then cut the leaves before taking a 45 degree cut and finally into the cloning gel
    - I left too many leaves on the clippings taking energy away from the clones rooting and probably stressing the clippings out trying to grow the leaves
    - temps got too high in the tent
    - too much light
    - water pH too high for a period
    - power outtage for an unknow amount of time that may have allowed the bases of the cuttings to dry and left them in the dark. This one is not my fault but I feel definitely stressed them out

Despite all of the above, we have roots!!!

  18. This video journal update talks about my new addition to the grow, introduces the new girls and gives an overdue update (exciting one :D) on the clones

  19. Boom! What an explosion on the roots os these clones in the last 2 days :jump: there's 2 or 3 that seem to be pretty far behind (but they do have small roots that r growing) but we're gonna pot the rest of these girls before the roots get too long. I'm pretty pumped to have what appears to be 100% success with these first clones. It was dicey at times but they came through. I'm happy with the performance of this Turboklone so far. Just gotta tighten up my game a bit to have stronger looking clones on future runs. Now let's see how these respond to the transplant...
