Hey Yall, Thanks in advance. My lady basically isn't growing, doesn't look well, and I feel like I've tried a lot of things without success. Pictured today--the light here makes it look more yellow than it is, but the two biggest leaves are quite pale She's planted in coco w/ maybe 30% perlite, sprouted 1/25, and grew as expected for maybe a week--sprouting the first two leaf sets and shedding the cotyledon leaves, and then kinda stopped; then the stem turned purple and she started to droop. Pictured on 2/3 I think I was overwatering, so I cut back on that but haven't had much progress. My next thought was ph, so I flushed--runoff ph was low, <5--and then corrected my ph going forward. We're in the 6ish range now. That was nearly 3 weeks ago and it just didn't really grow much. My next thought was humidity, which I hadn't been controlling humidity, so early last week I put a sandwich bag over it--that seemed to spur some new bright green growth, but now the bottom leaves have turned yellow and I'm again concerned about losing her and unsure of the consequences of stunting like this. Pictured today--new leaf tips sprouting in the center mostly since putting the bag over it Little help? All these 'troubleshoot your plant' guides seem to deal with much more mature girls. Sorry, yes, should have mentioned--General Organics Biothrive grow, their CaMg+, and Bio Root at half strength from the schedule on their website, because I read somewhere that seedlings should get less until they're at least a little grown
A 70/30 coco/perlite mix in a solo cup can't be overwatered. Your plant is literally starving. Coco basics: Feed daily with a pH around 6.0 to substantial run off......twice a day in flower. Never give plain water. Never, ever let the coco get dry. These plants are in a 70/30 coco/perlite mix 3 weeks from sprout.......fed every day to run off starting about day 3 from sprout for a comparison. Good luck.
Well that'll do it I guess--thanks so much for the help! A couple questions: Given the stunting I have here, would it be better to restart from a new seed? Ie does stunting now have an impact on product later even if I improve my watering routine? I've been feeding with chlorinated tap water--how important is it to let water to stand (release dissolved chlorine) before use? Thanks again, Bumpus Jones
It's not dead........you might as well try to save it using the feeding routine that I suggested.......use 1/4 strength nutes to start. Early growth problems won't affect the end product........unless it's an auto. You can let it sit out if you like........some growers do that........I never had an issue not doing that. This is the best place I know to learn the correct way to grow in coco........www.cocoforcannabis.com.
Thanks again for the help--I've been watering every morning to significant (>10%) runoff and we're making some good progress now, but my girl still doesn't look quite happy, and I'm a little worried. The leaves are pretty droopy--firm and curled, not limp or dry--and not yet growing to the size that I would expect, relative to the number of nodes we're at--6 on a plant <3in tall. It's also not growing vertically as much as I'd expect, despite being a tall sativa (double dream) that I expect to worry about outgrowing my space. Is my plant 'catching up' somehow after weeks of stunting? With respect to the droopy leaves, the troubleshooting guides I see tell me I'm overwatering, but the coco-specific resources I read tell me once a day is the minimum fertigation frequency, so I'm confused. Does 'overwatering' in coco amount to under-concentrated nutrients? Could the root system be overdeveloped relative to the above-ground plant? Is there some other factor I'm not considering? Any guidance would be very much appreciated. Best, Bumpus Jones
