I am flowering my very first grow. I am super excited to see the outcome but I do have a few questions. All my plants are at least 2 ft tall, the biggest one is 3. I've gone through some deficiencies, ph fluctuations and under watering and overwatering during veg. Since it's my first Grow it's all been trial and error, and tons of help from you guys. Now that I'm flowering I want to know how will those veg errors hurt my yield? I was able to correct them all then only after they looked all healthy did I get them onto the flower stage. My plants are all at least 2ft tall with the tallest being 3. I had them on a 1000W led but I felt it wasn't giving what they needed and moved em to a 1000w hps. I've been feeding them now the bitanicare pure blend bloom, cal-mag since I use ro water. And floralicious and I did use some superthrive. Is this too much, should I change anything? My area stays at 80-83 degrees Fahrenheit. Is it too hot? What can I do to increase yield? I went camping over the weekend and 3 of my plants were underwatered as seen, how will this affect my yield? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I know it's all trial and error since it's my first grow, but I still want to yield the most I can. Thanks guys!!
It comes down to: Is the plant currently healthy? If yes, you are fine. Don't worry too much about yields. It's your first grow. Focus on learning. Do periodic soil tests with a kit. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
I agree. If your plants were all healthy before going into flower, they're going to pick up and grow like crazy. If it's an option, throw the LED and the 1000 watt HPS lamp in there on them for flower. You want the biggest wattage of the best quality lighting you can hang over them all throughout the flower cycle. Better light grows you a larger plant and gets you bigger yields. There is a pretty big learning curve to learning the indoor grow....believe me. I stumbled through it myself several years ago when we started putting our grow together. Boy, I did some stupid stuff. LOL But I guess we all did at one time or another. But once you get this bunch through, the next will get easier and everything will start to make more sense. The more you grow, the better you get at it. Be prepared in latter flower for your plants to go through a shedding of sorts. Toward the end, they use the sugars stored in the leaves as energy to help finish out the buds. It's totally normal and by the time they're ready to harvest, they'll look like "bud on a stick" instead of a MJ plant. But pour the light to them....need good even coverage over every plant all the way through, not to crowd plants up together and shade light from reaching below the canopy of the plant and let them do their thing. Happy growing! TWW
List of stupid things done: nutes added to hot soil, wrong distance from lights, not replanting in time, seedling mat too hot and for too long, humidity dome for too long, etc. It's how you learn. My advice: Read a book, and get meters and kits to measure things like light, ph, ppm, soil, etc. Eliminate the guesswork. Guessing wrong sucks. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
When you say wrong distance lights, did you have them to close or to far? I'm afraid mine are going to be to close, I didn't take into consideration that they stretch a lot and that I can't go any higher on my light
Too close at one point. Also, not enough light at another point: Tried fitting two mainlined plants under a single 400w, and it's just not enough light. Only realized it after buying a light meter.
It reduces the light output, so you can have the plants closer without light burn. Get a light meter, and keep it at or under 90,000 lux at the brightest spot. This is a common number, although personally I think you can go higher without problems. Once you adjust the brightness and distance, you'll still have to manage the heat, don't forget.
