First time grow

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by ExpensiveStogie, Nov 22, 2010.

  1. So i want to grow for my first time this spring outdoors. I do not have a car, i don't have anyone that could drive me places to buy all kinds of fancy chemicals, i do not have a lot of money and i have nowhere to buy just seeds. But what i do have is a large field in my backyard, and a dream. A dream to simply grow weed.

So i am looking for help on how to grow weed outdoors. I want to know how good my chances of getting a good crop (or of it growing at all) would be if i simply took seeds out of bags that i buy (or just ask whoever I'm getting from if they can throw some seeds in) and then grow them outside?

I know about keeping animals away and such, i can probably get a hold of some chicken wire and i think i can manage putting some hair near it. But can my plant survive outside without chemicals and such to keep bugs away?

I also need to know about where to plant, soil wise. Is there a way to test how good the soil is for growing without ph indicators and such? I cant get any fertilizer but i do have some sand around the house. Are there specific spots that would have better soil for growing than others?

Also, I do not have anywhere indoors to dry the weed, are there methods for drying outdoors that do not require all kinds of expensive equipment? And when would be the best time to start growing? (I live in New york)

    Thank you for any help.

  2. Ill try to answer some of this as good as i can. You can grow in damn near any soil but what you get from it will vary. I don't have any experience in growing in soil that is already there. I recommend you buy soil because that is your plants food throughout the year and a healthy diet a healthy plant. I also recommend you buy neem oil. It is relatively inexpensive and is a great pesticide. That being said yes it can be as simple as planting a few seeds and watering them as needed. A ph meter isn't nessisary unless mixing nutrients in my opinion. People get great results with bagseed sometimes but the genetics will vary. As far as drying outdoors in new york... That might be some trouble... I would look for seeds more indica even if its bag seed because it probably gets cold there later in the year and indica finishes earlier typically. Hope you can take some useful information from this.
