ok so i havent started the grow yet but i want to know if my set up will be good enough. I just want 2 - 4 plants, thats all i have room for. My grow box is out side, but its sealed, what kind and how many lights should i use, and will they produce enough heat for the plants or should i add a heater. Also what would be the best strain that will be the easiest and give me the best yeild. Whats the best and cheapest soil/fert i can use.
Given the money to do so, the optimal setup would be one 250w Metal Halide light for vegging and one 250w High Pressure Sodium light for flowering. A cheaper way around this barrier is compact fluorescent lights (CFLs). Having a number of cool whites in place of MH and warm whites in place of HPS can still produce very kind bud. Both Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium lights will produce enough heat, enough in fact that it could be a problem if left unattended. Ventilation will be one problem in your grow chamber. I'd suggest an inlet/outlet fan to promote air flow through the chamber, especially around the canopy of the plants. As far as strain goes, it all depends on the grower's preferences. Some will just grow bagseed, others will go after a pure indica or sativa. Common strains to begin with, though, are Northern Lights #5 and White Widow. Any normal potting soil will work, really. Add some perlite if possible to create more aeration for the roots. Nutes--Miracle Gro can be a dangerous thing if used improperly on plants, but can be very good if used correctly. I prefer organic nutes like Fox Farm. Another good brand is the General Hydroponics Flora 3-part series. It works for soil or hydro grows. ~Lycanthropy
ok thats a start, but i have one more question, can i use the same grow chamber to veg and flower? or will that pose a problem. the reason is i dont have anywhere else i can do it, or the landlord will freak lol.
