First time grow, really need some help.

  1. Hey guys, I just began my first grow and am in need of some major help, so thank you in advance to anyone that can help out here. Much appreciated! As of Thursday night, I started growing 4 plans in a 4x4x7 tent with a 1000w air cooled MH bulb (have HPS for flowering of course). I have an 8" fan cooling the bulb with air from outside of my home. The set-up of my fan and filter is one thing I am unsure of here. I am seeing so many different ways to set stuff up, I don't know if I am being overly paranoid or what, but anyways, this is how I have it set up currently.... window--ducting--fan pulling air from outside and blowing in--ducting--light--ducting--filter..... Should my fan be turned around here, or placed in a different spot in the "chain"?

As far as watering goes, on Friday I watered them still in their plastic trays, split a 12 oz bottle of water between the 4 plants. Last night, I transplanted them into 5 gal Smart Pots and split a half gallon of water with nutrients added (half of the recommended levels to begin with). I also gave the the plants a good mist as well at this time. This is what I'm using for nutrients.. http://www.amazon.com/General-Hydroponics-Flora-Pe...

Inside of the tent I have an oscillating fan and humidifier running 24/7. I'm trying to keep temperatures between 70 and 85 degrees and humidity between 40 and 50% during the veg stage. I have observed temperatures as high as 88 degrees, and as low as 77 degrees late last night, just a couple hours after transplanting. This was with cooling down the room the tent is in with a fan in another window. Humidity has been in the upper 30s to lower 40% range.

Anyways, I've got a bunch of pics here I've taken along the way. I'm highly concerned about nutrient deficiencies and over or under-watering, as well as making sure I have my equipment set up properly.

Anyways...Help, tips, feedback, a "What the f**k are you doing!?" with ways to correct, all is appreciated!

  2. Turn the fan around to suck air through the filter and exhaust outside.

  3. I actually did that last night after thinking about it I realized I managed to set it up without any air actually being exhausted. Ughh,...After doing so, today I observed my temps were as high as 97 degrees and humidity dropped as low as 27%. It was only a high of 78 out here today too. The next week is going to be close to 100, so I'm really worried here.

  4. i was having heat problems, i managed to switch it over and run it at night and off during the day. everything is fine for me now. temps never go over 82. and yeah, pull the air through the filter, out of the tent, out of the window. took me a bit to get it right.

  5. Yeah, def vent out.

What kind of soil are you in?

My lights are off from 3 to 9 PM right now.
I'm using Down to Earth pro-organic-mix soil.
Tent hit 102 degrees today. 27% humidity. [IMG]

    Edit..
Lights have been off for 3 hours now and the tent is still 88 degrees. What the hell is going on here? It's hotter inside the tent with air being vented out than it was before when I had air blowing in and no exhaust.

  7. do you have a fan to push fresh air in the tent? 1000w puts a ton of heat in a 4x4 area, the more air movement the better

  8. No, i do not. Ive placed a box fan near the intake flaps to try to push some air in, but even so and with now running my lights at 500w I'm still stuck with temperatures that are virtually the same.
