Whats up guys! About 3 months or so ago I randomly decided to learn everything i could about growing quality weed. My plants are almost done but even though i took care of them like they were my children. I don’t think i got the results i was hoping for. Maybe someone could help? Stats- 2 different strains, the large plant in front is platinum kush breath remix by in house genetics. The other 2 plants are sour gary X trapples and bananas. These seeds were given to me randomly in a parking lot.. I am using the complete AC infinity grow kit, as well as fox farms trio for nutrients, cal mag, fox farms ocean soil, high quality pearlite, earthworm mix, ph up &down, and mycorrhizal fungi root. The platinum kush was in veg for 6 weeks, and the other were 4 weeks. They are both on week 7 day 49. My concern- I may be overthinking, as this is my first grow. But the buds seem a little small. I have looked up online and noticed that they are significantly smaller than other pictures. the platinum kush traditionally has black leaves and is very frosty. Mine is not. The leaves are turning yellow with blackish red sides on the fan leaves. Im not sure why my platinum kush did not follow its genes… i have also noticed the node spacing for the buds are pretty far apart as well. Are all of these symptoms related? What do you think i did wrong? Or am i completely overthinking? I have a lot more pictures and videos but it wouldn’t let me upload. Let me know if more would be a better help. Thanks guys!
From what I can see (I'm not an expert), in regards to not getting the yield or bud size you were looking for. It looks like you could have let your plants stay in the vegetative state longer. Do more topping/Low stress training, grow the plants larger and bushier before you put them on the flower schedule. It's also looking like you did a considerable amount of pruning/lollipopping. I would have left most of the nodes and lower growth on, considering the size of the plants. Your lights and genetics will play an element in your yield, but if you have small plants before you even flip to the flower schedule, you can expect small yields. If you want maximum yields, try to get your tent completely filled with branches, leaves and tops before you flip to flower.
They look great my plants just happened to be on day 49 of flower today also I flipped April 1st and your are way healthier looking than mine I gave them nute burn anyways some plants just don't produce big buds getting the maximum amount of light is important to making bigger buds but I say try different genetics next run
If that is actual days from flip then another 20 days of flower will put on the bulk you are looking for. I run a full 10 weeks actual outside under the southern California sun. 70 - 73 days of flower. BNW
Your doing great for not growing for years. Food for thought . Technically, Fox Farm Ocean Forest has zero actual soil in it.... I cannot explain why almost all the companies who make or bag up Gardening Compost and call it potting soil when there is normally less than 1% soil in it,IF THAT MUCH. Some companies call it potting soil less soil! The only reason I am bringing this up is Compost soaks up water, like a sponge... Which leads to drainage issues like root rot. Bagged potting soil- less soil is organic mater, stuff that lived, like plants and animals. When decomposed turns to nutrients. The issue is plants need minerals too, plus oxygen and water. Thanks guys! Im glad to know they are healthy! And great advice. I will definitely do more LST and grab some real soil for my next batch. I didn’t know you could let them go to 10 weeks of flower. But i will monitor the trichomes and let them chill a little longer to hopefully bulk up!
I sure wish my first grow looked like that!! LOL To be honest, I read your post before looking at the pictures and my first thought was "These seeds were given to me randomly in a parking lot," which would mean you just got some shitty seeds with bad genetics. Your plants look great, though. Keep on spoiling them and good luck!!
Haha thank you! Yea i was at the flower shop getting soil and the guy knew what i was doing, and gave me a random bag of seeds and said they were his own genetics. Not bad for not really knowing anything about the strain cross. Can’t wait to smoke them and see how well they turned out! i have some autoflower gelato seeds from a very reputable local breeder and i am super pumped to try them after these are finished.
Oh that's cool. Sometimes I buy feminized seeds and other times I buy from my grow shop. You get something like 10 seeds for 50 bucks, but it's a crap shoot. I've had very good luck going that route, though. Peace and good growing
Nice! I have only done a clone i picked up already on week 2 of veg, and these random seeds I wanted to try all the different ways of growing to see which i like best. Im mainly going for highest quality and best yield so im thinking feminized photo seeds will be the winner. Eventually I want to buy a few more tents and really scale this up! happy growing
