Hey everyone im new here. Just started my first cannabis grow a little over two months ago and i have no idea what im doing! Lol ive been reading out of ed Rosenthals books and doing research online. My current set up is about a 3x4 space. I have 2 t5 4 foot ballasts above the plants. 1 ballast side lighting the entire garden and a 100 watt LED spot bulb over the plants. The led has has a spectrum of 400 to 550nm in the blue and 600 to 750 in the red spectrum. I had no white spectrum so thats why i added the t5s also just to bump up the lights. The lighting is placed 16in above plants in all directions. I move the leds light around and keep it about 6in above the plants. I had a fungas knat problem but used azamax to remedy that and no problem since. The biggest plants i have are in 5 gallon fabric pots. They're roughly the same age. I have 6 seedlings that have remained seedlings for a very long time. They're droopy and growing across the side of the solo cup instead of up toward the light. They're approximately 3 to 4 weeks old and are showing minimal changes in growth. My bigger two are about 2 months old and had been doing great. I have one that is growing significantly shorter but bushier than its talled sister who is starting to fill out but still taller. The taller i believe is a week later than my eldest. Im just getting inconsistent growth patterns. All the leaves look ok i dont think im battling a deficiency. Theyre all in big enough pots. Oh also my temperature has remained around 73 to 81 at the highest. (Desert climate is hard to control temperature). The ph of the water that comes out of my faucet is roughly around 6.6 and thats what i have been watering with. I try to water them only when necessary. I'll check the first inch or so of soil and once thats dry or the pots start to feel light i will water them. Is my lighting too little? Too far away? Im not sure what im doing wrong like i said this is my first indoor grow. I can post pictures and if theres any bit of important information i missed if i have it ill be more than happy to add it. Im just looking for some help i didnt invest alot of money into this but it wasn't cheap either id just like to at least have a decent yield and hopefully some knowledge as to what i can do better as a grower! Any input is appreciated even insults! Thanks guys!
What’s your total wattage right now for all those plants? They need more light for sure they’re stretching like crazy Probably a combination of too little lighting and too far away.
Total watts is around 550 if you start adding it up. Is that how it works though just combine all numbers? Sent from my LG-Q710AL using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Also these seeds arent feminized so i was going to anticipate throwing away half and once i get to the females i was gonna cut the space down to 3x3 Sent from my LG-Q710AL using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I don’t know much about t5s and wattage I grow with leds myself. I found a page for you though. I’m gonna link it for you. Learned some stuff myself about t5s and growing with them lol Using T5 Grow Lights for Cannabis Cultivation | Grow Weed Easy
Right on! Gonna try to move the plants closer to the lights and see what happens!! Do you have any advice on good leds? Ive read alot about the benefits of changing over but know they're pricey Sent from my LG-Q710AL using Grasscity Forum mobile app
You can spend a lot on some of the leds. I’ve read good things about morsen and viparspectra. Since it’s your first grow and u don’t wanna spend a fortune look at the mars hydro lights on amazon. Just remember to look for actual wattage on leds. For example the mars hydro 300watt says 300watts but if you read closer you’re really getting closer to 192 watts, possibly a little less. it’s going for around 80$ right now. And you’ll want around 30-50 watts per square foot in your grow space.
Got everything a little closer gonna see how that works! Sent from my LG-Q710AL using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Yea, and you’ll definitely want more than a 300 watt led for that many plants. Looks good bro! keep me posted, id love to follow your grow
It’s a little late now because your seedlings are so stretchy. But you can put the T5s 2-4 inches away from your seedlings. However do check on the heat at that distance because if your not cooling properly you could cook the plant.
Ill make sure to keep an eye on the heat that makes sense! Sent from my LG-Q710AL using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Crazy stretch... seems like you need the lights closer.. ive grown with cfls and leds... cfl if not placed 4-6inch will cause stretch.. not sure how t5s work but full spectrum leds with veg mode will keep your nodes tighter, but will need to be placed further from plant
Loon at Viparapaspectra or Meizhen lights, probably around 600w for your space Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
i've got meizhi 600w true wattage wile both switech on = 270w.. after switching from unbranded to meizhi, the plants skyroceted like crazy even with my destructive beginning... i highly recommend. i bought it for 140£ and sent them complaint right away for false ad - they do ads it as having it 4IR however, they do have only 2 in real... so i gave them bad review and stuff, they contacted me refunded me 20£ for giving them good review and sorting stuff out with me... they promised to change the description, but they didnt... so go ahead and do the same as me. i use 2.5x2.5 i'm 2weeks into flowering and they do abosutly love it even with only 2 ir... didnt get to late flowering so cant tell how they do to help finish the plants off, but so far so good! i have it hung about 15inch above, and temps are getting at around 29C at top of canopy. good luck bro. i'm first time grower too, i'm on budget, so haven';t tried different LED's yet, but this meizhi seems a good bang for buck... here's my thread if u fancy looking into it.
The T5 need to be around 2-4 inches away from canopy. You could transplant them and bury the stem deeper in the soil, but you're risking stem rot tho. I would start again if it was me. You will know if there are not stretching if they are sturdy pointing straight up Sent from my CLT-L09 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
