This is my first grow ever.I'm growing outdoors in South Georgia, and they are in a place they get sunlight all day long. Watered as needed.Okay, so I planted in Mid-Late April, They started flowering August 15th. It's just bagseed. They smell AMAZING, and I read when 75% of the hairs turn orange/amber, that's when I should harvest. I don't have a strong enough magnifying glass to see the trichomes clearly, and I can't go and get one so how would I know when to harvest? I'd say about 55-60% of the hairs on plant #1 are orange (Sorry for the shit quality pictures, all I have is my Kindle), and #3 has maybe 5% orange hairs? I'm not sure what strain these are, they are probably from different bags as I save all of my seeds in a pill bottle. #1 #3
I grabbed a jewelers loupe from amazon for like $2.72. Far as i know without looking at the trichomes there's not really a good way to tell, Just the hairs turning brown but that's not accurate.
the only info i can give you myself is that when they're ready you should have quite a few yellowing leaves but then i'm on my first grow too so i'm not entirely sure about that, i've heard people say when 50% of the pistols turn brown all the way to when they are all brown. Without magnification you are going to get ten different opinions from ten different people. What i can tall you is the one guy i personally know that harvested by the pistols turning brown method he did it at around 50% and his smoke was absolutely worthless. Not even close to ready. If you can at least make out the change from clear to cloudy on the trichomes anytime after cloudy is decent smoke.
