Alright I'll be looking to start my first micro grow in the upcoming months, and I just wanted to make sure everything sounded ok. I plan on growing some C99 from attitude. My growing compartment is an 16x16x24 cabinet I built. I have a 4" fan with carbon filter, digital thermometer/ph meter, and a diy O.N.A. Bucket. The part that I'm lost on is the lighting. I'm pretty much set on CFL bulbs but I'm not sure how many or what wattage. I will be doing SCROG for this. Would 2 higher wattage bulbs work or would I need 3 or more? Thanks for any and all help!
It'll probably be easier to fit a single 125w bulb in there. Be sure to LST and maybe top to keep the plant short. C99 is a landrace sativa that will grow tall
I grow in a similar size area, had pretty good results with 172w (four 43w warm whites) I wouldn't run any less than that, as soon as I added my custom led panel I noticed a HUGE improvement in growth, that tells me I was running the bare minimum of light for a good product. I cropped about 1.6oz with those four bulbs, and right now at 4 weeks with the led also my buds are the same size as 7 weeks without. My fridge here is 16x16 but I think I've got a bit more height than you do, regardless if you can cram enough bulbs in there you should be able to pull 2oz at a time, maybe more
Thanks for the tips guys! As far as bulbs go, I have four or five of these laying around: Amazon.com: CowboyStudio 45W Compact Fluorescent CFL Daylight Balanced Bulb with 5500K Color Temperature for Photography and Video Studio Lighting: Camera & Photo But I'm not sure about using them because it says: 1. Not for use with timers, photocells, dimmers, and motion control devices 2. Not for use with totally enclosed recessed fixtures 3. Not for use where exposed to the weather Would they still work? or should I move along to something else? I'm really considering an HPS for my next grow but it's not in the budget for now. So I'd rather not sink a lot into CFL bulbs. Thanks again!
Those will should work for vegging, I'm not positive that's the best color but i may be doubting myself being quite high... You will need some warmer color bulbs for your bloom phase tho Only thing that concerns me is the "not for use with timers" I don't know why that would be recommended against
Considering my grow area is ~ 2.5sqft would a 150 HPS be too hot to run in the area? I'm using an Ultra Kaze 3000 120mm fan with an odorsok filter. The fan pulls 133cfm and I'm not using any ducting.
