Hey GC, it's my first time ever growing (succesfully) so I wanted to see what you guys thought. The plant is 8 days old today and seems to be doing pretty good. I'm a little worried about the strength of the stalk though. Any suggestions? Here's a pic so you can evaluate it. (the penny is for size comparison) Any helpful input is welcome
I've been trying to take care of this one! Had another but it was a bad start and then my light fell on it and messed it all up so i just said, "forget it I'll restart" and now it seems to be going well
a gentle breeze blowing on your plant will strengthen it right up plus its good for keeping molds and what have you off of it
It doesn't matter now, but for future, if you decide to stay with soil I would recommend putting in some more perilite in your soil. It will prevent the soil from packing down and will also allow for better aeration of the soil. Your plant looks just fine how it is, so obviously no need to change, but it could make a minuscule difference for root growth. Also, it is common practice to not water while the lights are on, especially foliar spraying. It will burn the leaves sometimes, so I wouldn't do that if you can avoid it. It isn't a big deal under CFL lights, but if you use HPS or MH you will have burn spots because they burn hotter and put out more light. I agree with van though, my plants didn't look nearly that good at 8 days. you must be doing something right!
Ok I'll change up my watering. Thanks for the suggestion. I think i water with the lights on because I naturally think if the lights are off, my baby is asleep and won't be able to abosrb the water hahaha
Easy to do... You can soil water with the lights on, just don't get the leaves wet or it will create mini magnifying glasses that can cause hot spots on the leaves. Also, what type of light are you using? How many plants will be going in total? Size of grow space? Ventilation? Any pics of your grow area?
CFL's, Just the one for now, Not sure about the size just kinda winged it, I have a large opening in the box and i'm mounting a few fans tomorrow. I'm planning to move it all to a more permanent grow box that I'm building over the weekend and i'll post poics of it I'm glad to here it looks good! Maybe I inherited my dad's green thumb lol
