    So I'm attempting my first grow out of some seed bag I've collected over the years and I'm thinking my basement is an excellent spot. I have several questions on some issues and I'd appreciate some input. I know this post is long as shit but I ask u to bear with me!

    Grow Room/Setup
    The only way to get into the basement is through this trap door in my room and when I go towards the other side of the house, the height gets to about 10ft. At my local hydroponics store I saw a Hydrohut tent which I thought would be perfect.

    The dimensions are 4ftx4ftx7ft so I think this is tall enough for plants and could do maybe 9 plants (in a 3x3 array) with a 600w HPS. Also, should I rotate my plants daily? You'd think the plant in the center would get most of the light and if you rotate them all they would get a more even distribution of light.

    So from what I read, this big hydrohut will only be a useful grow environment when I have seedlings sprouted that are 2-3 weeks old and are ready to grow to full height. So, I've also seen some mini hydrohuts which may be perfect for doing this first part of the grow. However, could this be all done in the same big hydrohut? If I get a dual MH/HPS light ... could I just put the light with an MH bulb way up high in the tent to sprout the seedlings?

    Also, can this all be done from start to end in one big pot? Or do I have to do it in smaller ones first, then transplant them?

    Cloning/Sexing
    So my first grow will be out of seedbag but then I actually plan to get some nice seeds (thinking ... nyc diesel, strawberry cough? mmmmmmmm). What I'm unsure is about is the whole sexing thing. I'd like to buy all feminized seeds so that I can just plant 1 seed and clone it 8 times. Is this overkill? What I'm unsure about is that the clones will of course be smaller than the mom so will they be on different cycles? Or will they just all end up shorter in the end? Or should I scratch all that and plant 4 seeds and clone each mom once?

    If I'm unable to get feminized seeds, then I'm thinking I should probably go ahead and get the mini hydro hut because I'll need somewhere to keep males. This way I can keep making seeds at least, right?

    Ventilation
    The basement is basically a big cave in the ground. The basement walls are cinder blocks and there are about 5-6 small 1ftx0.5ft cinder blocks with openings for air at the top of the walls (which are at ground level on the outside). I figure this will be good for ventilation in the general environment around the tent.

    I plan to go all out on ventilation in the tent ... carbon filter, nice exhaust fans, etc ... I think I'll hook up the exhaust to one of the openings at the top of the basement walls.

    Security
    I live in the downtown area of a very populated urban city in this neighborhood of houses right next to a university campus. Ocassionally I hear choppers fly by (hopefully news choppers?) but I'm increasingly skeptical of the use of thermal imaging. Looking at the house obviously wont be a problem because nobody will be able to see heat signatures on the walls since its below ground (unless they have ground penetrating equiptment?). What I'm worried about is helicopters seeing the heat spots (since they get the advantage to look down at you). I eventually would like to have two tents going (for 2 different strains) but the more and more of a risk it becomes, the less of a success this could be.

    Try to separate the questions, it makes it confusing if you dont.

    You dont need to rotate the plants. But if you have the time to rotate them, its a good idea.

    You could use the big hydrohut all the way through, but the lights will have to be too far for good growth at the begining. The plants would just end up stretching.


    I wouldnt waste the money on the little hydro hut. 4ft fluros or cfls will work good for veg. To be honest, i wouldnt buy the big one either, its alot cheaper to build your own. But if you have the cash...

    If your growing in soil (you didnt specify, so i dont know)
    , you should start in smaller pots. As for hydro, i dont know.

    For your first grow you should go with bagseed. Once you have a healthy female selected for a mother, you can clone it as many times as you want.
    Just trim the roots 1-2 times a year. I dont keep a mother more than 2 years. But i think you can keep them longer.( after that you can take one of the clones and use it as a mother.)

    The mother and the clones can be kept in the same cycle of 18/6 or 24/0 until you flower the clones( i think thats what you mean by cycle).

    Why keep the males? You dont need seeds if you have a mother to clone.

    Helicopters arent really a big worry to me, but there is a thermal foil thats made, you can stick it to your basements ceiling.

    No problem, i think there are 9 "how to grow green" videos all together. There are also a few under i different name(i forgot) filmed in the uk, they talk about the thermal foil stuff.
