I'm currently on day 18 of my first grow with a DWC bubble bucket made from a paint bucket. I'm having a hard time seeming to balance my nuts and ph to my plants liking.. Currently I'm developing either a major deficiency or burn on my lower leaves, which I thought I may have corrected with a water change but now it's starting to creep up to some newer leaves. Some pics are attached below, one of the really bad off leaves and a few of the not so bad off (yet...)
Problem appears to be growing, I'll update the pics later. I'm maintaining a PH between just below 6 and no higher than 6.5 (still testing with the cheapo solution, I'll get a digital one with my next paycheck) and appears to be rising on a day to day basis. For nutrients I'm using the technaflora line (might switch to foxfarm next round) at full power. I was seeing zinc and magnesium deficiencies towards the end of week two but a fresh res with fresh nutrients seemed to correct that... For lights I'm running two 24W and two 28W CFLs bringing me just over what I hear is the magic number of 100W. As stated above the grow is in a mylar lined cab with an ecoplus eco air 2 providing the bubbles for my 5 gallon bubble bucket. Does this look like anything to anyone? It's not developing on the tips as best as I can tell... just dark spots appearing on the leaves at random. It's not mold is it? Has anyone grown with Technaflora before? Did the "recipe for success" work? Symptoms: red stems on "dead" branches, spots appearing on leaves 2-3 days after they pop and slowly get worse, leaves appear to be drooping, no impeded growth (at least that I can tell, I'm getting a node a day basically, on day 21 from seed I have my first sets of 9 coming in and heavy undergrowth developing), beautiful roots/main stem. Please help if you can.
Problem is still growing/spreading, still not sure what to do.. I can't find any pictures of burn that look like mine, and with red stems it looks like it's only a deficiency issue but I don't want to up the nuts if she's burning. Anyone seen this kind of pattern before? I'm about to loose another set of 7 to whatever it is, I'm getting my first 9s in and want to fix this before I get too much further down the road.
burn would start at the tip and work its way down the leaves so its most likely a def. what kind i couldn't tell you.
Have you looked at a chart like this? Troubleshooting cannabis growing health problems. I'm sure you could match symptoms better than I can by just looking at the pictures... Maybe try cutting the amount of all nutrients you're using in half for a period and see if that helps?
Thanks Feral, I tried dropping nutrient levels on my last flush, after a day and a half magnesium and nitrogen deficiency started showing in a bad way, once I took it up back up to full power those went away... I would assume if it's nutrient burning between half and full power it would have corrected itself inside a week (someone lemme know if I'm wrong). The issue seems consistent and looking at the chart I have signs of deficiency in at least P and N but at full power with the Technaflora "recipe for success" I feel like if I up it I'm going to burn her for sure. If anyone has thoughts on that I'd be glad to hear them. I've also looked at the 3 articles in the sticky for plant charts and it looks from the final link there that what I'm seeing may be and Mg deficiency. I'm not sure what to do in that case really. The only solution I have to correct Mg levels is CalMag and Ca apparently acts as a lock out agent. Suggestions appreciated. I'm changing my reservoir weekly with PH adjusted ionized water and then adding fresh nutrients. Even after a fresh reservoir she was still showing signs of whatever this. Are there any downsides to using purified water like that? UPDATE: After more reading, I'm going to try to foliar feeding it some sugar daddy mix and see if that helps her out.
