First Grow Week 2 Need Advise

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Addhulst, May 7, 2023.

  1. Hi guys,

This is my first indoor grow and wanted to get your advice on my plant. I’m growing an auto flow strain under LED lights which is approximately 2 weeks old. I noticed some discolouration on some of the leaves. Wondered if this was a common thing or if I was doing anything wrong?

Look forward to hearing back from you :)

    Thanks

    Alex

  2. Probably from getting the leaves wet while light is on. Water droplets act as magnifying glass for light damaging leaves. Best to foliar spray about 30mins prior to lights cutting on.

Careful not to over water, that is detrimental for autos. Lack of aeration and large pot vs small plant will make that easier.

  3. Thanks Gobuddy for your support - I do have a good vent system and will make sure not to spray before light is on in the future. So this light discolouration shouldn’t be the cause of a lack of nutriments etc…does that look healthy ish from the pictures?

  4. Yes healthy from pictures. Depending on medium used plant should be fine with no nutrients 4-6 wks.

If it needed nutrients already those cotyledon leaves would be through. Over time they will fade anyways, that's normal. However this early and their still really green is a good indication there's plenty of nutrients.

  5. Other than applying pesticides, there's really not a great reason to be spraying the leaves with water. Even foliar sprays have a very limited effectiveness. Water on the leaf surface makes it hard for transpiration to happen. Adding water on top means it has to evaporate before the plant can start moving water throughout it's tissues. The plant uses transpiration to pull fluids from the root into the leaves where metabolic processes make things like chlorophyll.
