First grow, very excited!

  1. Whats up. I've been hanging around here for a little bit. Decided to try out my green thumb since everyone else seems to be having a blast of it!

I've got a closet grow with 4 bag seeds going, CFL's for lights, Miracle Grow potting soil (I have read negative things about this type of soil, but so far so good). They were all planted exactly 3 weeks ago. Have a look!

Also, wondering what some good nutrients would be for veg process? Is 3 weeks to late to feed for the veg cycle? I'm still a little new to it, so go easy haha!

    Criticism/advice always welcome

  2. Looking good so far keep it up, i'm getting on the wagon about growing as well and going to be doing a micro grow very shortly(germing seed's atm) and wish you the best of luck.

  3. Thanks! Good luck to you as well, man. Any clue what type of seeds you're growing?

  4. The ladies are looking good man. How much space you got in your closet? I'm seriously thinking about starting a closet grow myself.

  5. haha thank you! My closet is 2' deep and about 6.5 - 7' wide. Ceiling high. Its working out great with four plants, CFL's, and an oscillating fan; plenty of room. Plus, I have an additional 12 seeds left to germinate/plant. Im thinking about having two rotations going.

  6. Looks great. Im working on my 1st grow as well and I think the Technaflora starter kit was a good buy. Everything you need to start off with and almost enough of it.... Im sure Ill run out of something before Im done. It was about $35.00 and my plants seem to be loving the system. Sounds like you have room to spare in your closet, it should be easy enough to run two cycles, provided you can seal them off from each-other.

    Happy growing

Looking forward to seeing how it goes

  7. Yup, thats the plan. Find away to seal off the two cycles, Im fairly confident the amount of room I have will be sufficient!

Good luck with your grow, man!

  8. Having a few seedlings as your girls finish up is a great idea..rotate those plants..one comes out one goes in one seed gets planted..have you thought about filtration..two weeks into flower and a three foot plant can smell up a 3000 swuare foot house...really wonderful smell if everyone was ok with it..and forget it if you happen to have a diesel strain..you WILL need filtration.
The smell gets alot of people fucked..where i live the smell fucked two people recently..but im also in a city where you look out the bathroom window and your heads in the neighbors bathroom....sucks really bad actually wish i lived in asuburban place

  9. Yeah, the idea of running two cycles is really growing on me…hahaha (no pun intended!) As you mentioned above..one in, one out...

I have been thinking about filtration, mostly looking around here and getting some different ideas. I live in an apt, top floor (3rd). Its one of those where everyone's front door leads outside, if that makes sense haha no hallways and such. And not quite as close quarters as your neighborhood…none the less, filtration will be a necessity..

All I know is that come flower cycle I better have a definitive plan for filtration.

  10. Just make sure you have a plan..i lived in fear..the first grow i did had 20 super skunks and you could smell it thirty feet from my front door..lol..oops. I just had no idea how bad yet good it would get..and i totaly get it you live in an apt like in the lady and the pool or whatever dumb ass movie it was..i hate having people on top of me..figurativly. .I at least own my house. The apts in this city are pathetic..

  11. Well, tomorrow I plan on putting the girls into the flowering cycle…But first, like any beginner I have a few questions:

    1. Is it best I jump right into a 12/12 light cycle? Or should I do an 18/6 than work my way to 12/12…

    2. What are the best nutes to be using during flowering? I know its mostly personal preference based on what people have used/know, but seeing as this is my first time…I don't know which does what better…I have read good things about the Fox Farm products, which I am leaning towards; Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom, etc.

Any thoughts/criticism/advice more than welcome…Thanks in advance for anyone who gives this a look/reply.

I know I got a long way to go, but I'm looking forward to finishing up my first grow! :smoking:

  12. Deffinitly go strait to 12/12 they dont need a warm up actually its the opposite and some people leave em in dark for 24 just to make sure they know its time to flower..so just go to 12/12..
Also fox farm nutes are really good imo BUT they are not organic theres chemicals in it and not that you shouldnt use it but there are other nutes out there like pura vida organics which is alot harder to burn the plants...when looking for a flower food high low nitro with high p and k is what you want..some people buy a booster also but being your first time id say dont bother with the booster..your second grow is a good time to add another product that way youll know if it makes a difference even..if im gonna use an additive or whatever its always on one plant so i can see if theres a difference and usually honestly alot of em are just watered down npk solutions..a really really really good thing for them would be to mix up some seabird guano or batt guano toss it in a bubbling bucket and a day later spray em with it..cover the leafs with it..soak em..there are beneficial bacteria and. Shit that keep the plant safe from mold safe from bugs and they help keep the stomata which are little mouths on the leafs imagine that take in oxygen and co2..only foliar feed until your two and a half weeks into flower. Once theres alot of hairs theres spaces for the water to trap and mold..im psyched for ya cuz your about to start flower for the first time and its an amazing process...and remember the more healthy foliage you keep till the end the better off your plant will be..dont listen to anyone who says pull fan leafs thats something if you choose you can do next time...again so youll know the difference...happy growing broski

Thanks for the replies and the tips Numb (lots of good info in there)

superclift1, growing your own is very, very addicting. So much fun learning all about it!

I am going to take into account advice given, and just go for a good flower food (gonna go organic) and keep it basic for the most part. This is my first grow, I am mostly just concerned with completing the process successfully with healthy plants, not growing the biggest plants ever seen on GC…So the light change will probably start later today/early evening, here are some pics of the girls as of this morning…

    Happy growing GC :smoke:

  16. how big is your pot size? the 8inch one? and how many watts per cfl light

  17. Im using a couple 8" 3 gal pots. Total CFL watts = 250…I'm mostly using 27w bulbs, a few 42's thrown in there as well.

  18. Cfls can veg no prob...i had two plants last time that i put under one.cfl each and they grew very well..i tossed em cuz of mites but it showed me it takes very little to veg...flowers a whole nutha story though

  19. I plan on sticking with the cfls through flowering..I have to switch the bulds to change the spectrum but other than thay shouldn't be a problem....right?

  20. I'm subbed. Nice plants. I'm a total noob also. I planted my first seed on July 24 this year.
Finally have my first female. I'm using MG soil also. So far, so good. Also using Jungle Juice Micro and Bloom (Lucas formula).
    I wish you great success!
