Hey guys May be starting my first grow soon. Im building a starter box out of a metal frame I had. The dimensions are 1 ft 9" by 1 ft 2" by 1 ft 11" tall. Do you think this will be a good size to start out my plants? I will be using CFL lights this whole grow and I will have them in a suspended tin pan to reflect the light. How many lights should I use in the starter box? Thanks
depends on how many plants you want in there 1 Plant = 100 actual watts 2 Plants = 150 actual watts 3 Plants = 200 actual watts and ya just keep adding 50 per plant although 3-4 may be cutting it, but if you dont plan to flower in there 4 is not unreasonable.
Ok! Once I plant the seeds I should start out with only 1 light right? Then move up to more lights? I dont want to burn them.
you got a way to vent that area? In a space so small even CFL's will produce a lot of heat. get rid of the tin pain idea, use flat white paint it will work better.
Yeah test the temp in there with the lights your got, if its to hot with them on add some ventilation till its perfect. That way the seeds will love it in their whole time in there. Dont want it to just have 1 light and be to cold it will slow its growth and at that small it will make it grow veeerrryyy slow. Good luck!
