First grow, some early problems.

  1. First I would like to say thank you for all the information here. I looked around a lot before I started my grow. This site has helped me tremendously.

So I germinated my seeds on the 10th of March. All 4 sprouted and grew nicely up until the second set of leaves, about 3 weeks. Soon after 3 got droopy, about 4 days ago. I was watering every other day because the jiffy pots I have them in were drying out fast. I assumed this was still over watering and stopped watering for 3 days. I just watered them again tonight with with a teaspoon of Jamaican Bat Guano mixed in. Before this they were only getting purified water. Is this over watering? I am very nervous about my babies.

The humidity stays between 30 and 45%. The temp is 60-65 at night and 75-79 during the day. I am using a 600W MH light about 14 inches from the plants running 18/6. I have a gentle oscillating fan and open the 4x4x7 tent up daily for fresh air.

Here is the medium per cubic foot. I cooked it for 2 weeks before removing some and planting the germinated seeds into small Jiffy Pots:

    1 part Perlite
    1 part Sphagnum Peat Moss
    2/3 part local organic compost
    1/3 part EWC

    1 cup Lime
    1 cup Kelp Meal
    1.5 cups Espoma Tomato Tone
    2 cups Azomite
    1 cup Jamaican Bat Guano

The 4 strains are Shining Silver Haze (mostly sativa), Big Buddha's Chiesel (sativa), Mango (indica) and Barney's Farm Honey B (mostly sativa).

  2. I'd back that light way off or even better yet, put those seedlings under a cfl until they get some legs. I'd also stop watering on a schedule and water only when jiffy pot feels light.

Fertilizing them at this early stage is not good either. Just relax a bit and let nature get them healthy. The way the leaves are drooping they're looking over watered to me. You could probably get away with watering them once a week until you transplant them.

It easy to be over attentive to your plants........... lighten up a bit and they'll love you for it.

Good luck and welcome to GC,

    Chunk

Thanks a lot for the quick reply Chunk!

I don't have money for a CFL right now but I can back it up, would 2 feet be good? Also, my ballast has a dimmer on it for 50% and 75%, would dimming it be better?

Will do. When would you start using a tea?

Update: As of this morning they already started to perk up after that watering. I'll make sure to wait a long while til the next one.

  4. Don't use any kind of teas or fertilizers until your plants are very well established. Remember, you've built a water-only soil; by rights you shouldn't need to do anything but keeping the soil moist throughout with plain ol' dechlorinated tap water. Your fertilizer is already in the soil.

  5. A small update. I let them thoroughly dry out. The pots were super light and the soil was dry down the side. I then watered them again. They looked better the day after, slightly perkier and a darker green. Now a few days later 2 of them have 2 sickly yellowish leaves and they other 2 are droopy again. The only thing that happened was one day the tent temp went up to 85 because it got so warm here. I check every few hours so I caught it quick and got it down to 80.
