First Grow setup

  1. I am about to get started on my very first grow and it seems like i have read for months on grow indoors hydroponicly.

I have a grow closet that is 4ft X 2Ft X 8Ft that i have constructed to be a enclosed room. Pic will be up soon...(need to get my camera out of storage). Also i have a 400 hps grow light with a 4 plant 20 gallon resovior drip system.

My ventalition is my problem that i am worrying about. The light gives off a lot of heat and i did not compinsate enough for the heat. The temp in the room is 82F and i have a 275 CFm exauhst with a vent sucking air in and 2 occilating fans to keep air flow circulating. Maybe im just being paranoed but i was wondering if this would give my plants heat stress. I have heard that you need to keep the plantes at 70-79F.

I have been doing many tests and have already upgraded froma 4in inline fan to a 6in inline fan and that made a 6 degree difference. It was 88F.

    Any suggestions welcome!!!

  2. 82 degrees would probably be ok. My hybrid indica sativa's start to get heat stressed at about 86 degrees. Keep them at no hotter than 82 and they should be fine.

  3. Hey thx smknvtec. Anybody else think its too hot??? Should i put another inlet fan putting more air in or another exauhst fan. Any suggestions welcome. Plzz post.

  4. i'd concentrate more on exhaust than intake. exhausting air will cause air to passively be pulled into the room.

  5. As long as the tops of the plant don't get over 82 then you should be all set. Make sure you keep your thermo. right at the plant tops under the light, so you know the temperature that they are feeling.

  6. Well i said screw the tiny little closet idea and im going to do this the right way. Might as well do it right the first time i grow. So i have decided to make my own grow box and use drywall and brackets to make my new grow room. This time it will be 4ft X 4ft X 7Ft. This is going to be concedriably bigger and hopefully i can get rid of that heat issue.

Suggestions on how i should have my exhaust out and in. I know putting the exhaust on the top will do but what other suggestions should i do???

    Any suggestions welcome
