Hey guys, I'm doing my first grow I have 2 blurples atm which are incredibly under powered and have done my whole veg with them thus far I've bought two 240watt kingbrite quantum board 3500k to finish the grow out with now I want to veg for another 2 weeks before I flip them would swapping out the quantum board for the blurples be fine and not affect the plants at all and am just wondering how high to hang them from the roof of the tent plants are about 12-14 inches tall.
I would just swap and use the kingbrite 3500k is fine for veg and flower from what I have heard. I have flowered 1 plant with a 3000k 660nm from kingbrite and I was very happy. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
Swap it now, the only side effect should be better growth in the last two weeks of veg. Put your hand under the light and move it towards the light. When it starts to get hot, that is how far you need to be from the tops of your plants. I run 440w of qb132 boards for veg and just under 600w for flower and I can get my lights easily within 6 inches of plant tops with no heat problems, but I keep it at around 18" because it really doesn't seem to increase yield setting them right on top of the plants if you have plenty of light.
I just set the new QB's up and replaced the Plurples, Ive got them sitting 24" above plants, Im surprised with the temperature of the boards themselves not too sure if its because their aluminium that they are as hot as they are but they so much quieter than my blurples without the fans running. Ill uploads pictures in a minute, I may have to try the Hand:Head method to move them closer I feel like they may be a bit far away from my plants
For me my sweet spot to hang my qb’s is usually about 15 inches from the tops in flower and the same for veg but for veg i run the light at 1/4 power, anything closer and they usually start to get light stressed by showing lighter green/yellowing of the top leaves. If you watch your plants they will tell you when to back your light off.
