First grow. PP and skunk #1

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by Staatsman, Sep 20, 2009.

  1. Hello GC. Love this website. Learned a lot before i decided to grow. I got two prefeminized seeds and germinated them. Planted them on 9/16. They sprouted the next day. Right now i'm using plastic cups, and just florescent lights. Heres a picture of each. Only 4 days old. The first one is Skunk and the second is PP

  2. Week 2. They are still under CFLs for now. Hopefully today i'll pick up a 150w hps light and that should help em grow a lot faster. The PP leaf started to curl? was wondering if that is bad or anything. Also will be trasporting to their perminate pots once i get my light.

    Thanks

  3. Thats a nice ammount of growth in one week, looking really good so far.

  4. So it's three weeks in, moved my plants into their 5 gallon pots. Still haven't gotten my hps light, but should be gettin it very soon. when the plants were in the cup they started to look droopy and thats why i wanted to move them. When i transplanted them i noticed the plant's roots were going around the bottom of the cup, which is why i think the leafs started turning yellow. Hopefully everything is fixed now and they will enjoy thier new home. here's some pics 3 weeks in.

  5. Looks like their on their way, what kind of lights are you using until you get your hps? Since they're still small why not sit them outside, I took mines outside ever day when they were still unrecognizable to the untrained eye. Natural light will boost em up unil you get your hps, if thats an option. I still take mines outside for 6 hours while direct sunlight is on my back porch, then I drop em under the lights when it gets shady.

  6. well i'm just using cfls for now. i'll post a pic of what it looks like tomorrow. but i can't put them outside because it's winter and it's already snowing here. so i'm pretty sure it would shock the plants if i took them outside. and really i just need to get this hps. they're lookin good now. i think i was overwatering them and now they're not droopy. i'll post pictures tomorrow.

  7. Ah damn that sucks, yea the cold would definitely shock the hell out of them. Cool, CFL's are fine for now...well I still use CFL's so I saw beyond "far now" lol. Hope you get your HPS soon, keep us updated

  8. Not good.

yellowing is spreading.... i'm thinkin it might be magnesium... but i don't want to make the wrong decision. any help would be appriciated.

    but here's an update

  9. Plant sems alright, don't want you to over water it bu your soil looks pretty dry.I dunno enough about nutes to tell you if you have a deficency, I used piss so it was either too much or not enough. Pretty easy fix...

  10. Magnesium symptoms include leaf curling. This kind of yellowing could be Nitrogen deficiency, BUT you really need to test your ph first before even considering adding nutes.

  11. the ph of the soil today when i watered was at about 6.0 so not thinkin it's a ph issue... but my soil has no nutes in it. using roots organic soil.

    here's the description:

A truly exceptional ready-to-use coco fiber-based potting soil. We begin with a base of the highest quality coco fiber/Coir on the plant which is repeatedly washed for an incredibly low EC, and composted for over twenty-four months, and is specially blended with extra long fibers. This soil is amended with only the highest quality organic ingredients including bat guano, premium earth worm castings, fish bone meal, feather meal, green sand, mycorrihzae, glacial rock dust, soybean meal, humic acid, and many more. Already blended with correct proportions of perlite and pumice for excellent drainage and a vigorous root system, Roots Organics potting soil encourages healthier plants and better yields.

so not too sure about what's going on here. hopefully i can get it fixed quick, and later this week i'm gonna head to the hydoponics store and get some fox farms nutes.

  12. Looking good. You are about two weeks ahead of me. My skunk seems to have had a few more problems so far than the amnesia lemon that has taken off. Nevertheless, it still looks OK and is growing daily.

My friend grew SK1 a few years back and used straight tap water, miracle-gro soil and a 1000w HPS. Those things were 5ft tall jungle bushes by the end of 3.5 months, so I know they are tough. I'm hoping mine will do half as well as his.

Good luck. I'll pop by every now and then.

  13. so they've been growing quite a lot since the last time i posted. there is still a little bit of yellowing... but it's not too much of a concern anymore. I just watered them with 2 tps of epsom salt per gallon. I got my hps light last weekend also! they loved it, growing so much faster and better now. gonna buy another 150w hps once i send these two in to flower and germ and veg two new strains. while these are flowering. planing on veging until the end of october.
