Hello GC, ive been lurking on these forums for about 6 months now reading grow journals and gathering techniques for growing outdoors. I realize most the questions are in the threads but i got a few that i couldnt find answers too and wanted to see if i could get more help. I live in Central Texas and Ive got a hunting lease about 5 miles from my house. its 100 acres of woods surrounded by houses.I have a truck so i have access to it whenever i please. Me and my dad hunt their during deer season which is October through January 3rd? i think. So ill have time to get some plants started and hopefully it be done by October. Ive been scouting places to start and outdoor grow for a couple weeks now on Google Maps and just walking the property and i found a decent spot that's about 30 feet wide and 40 feet in depth. Its just an opening in between a cluster of trees. its about 200 yard walk from the dirt road so its not that far of a walk to haul some stuff in. I was thinking about doing some auto flowering plants because they are alot shorter then regular plants so less chance of me getting caught. I'm just not sure if you can start autos in Late March/ Early April ?? I was going to get a good seedling soil mix in solo cups and start them on the treeline so they don't get burnt. After 10 days i was going to move them into full sunlight to get the growth starting. Im also going to get some chicken wire to go around plants so they don't get trampled, eaten, exc... Transplant them into 3 gallon buckets of FFOF + 20% perlite and feed them a nute solution to get them fat. Oh and the last frost date is March 3rd for my area Also i live with my parents right now and i wanted to order the seeds from attitude because I've heard good things about them. I just dont have a place to get them shipped to. Is there anyway i can get it shipped somewhere and i pick it up their or am i going to have to find someone to get it shipped too. Any suggestions??? Anything will help
Just to be sure, you should find some good hunting spots away from where your plants are and just tell your dad youve been scouting spots and keep him away from the plants. Autos can be started anytime, you could actually get like 2 auto harvests per season i think. If you start them in april, they would be finished by july, then start more plants when you harvest and chop them around late september early october. and you can get a prepaid card and order them to your house and be the first to check the mail everyday. Thats what i do.
Thanks Dc, Great. I've always been interested in auto's and im so excited i can finally get to it. I have my own credit card but i think its safer for a prepaid card your right. Its just scary to think they are coming to my house because if my mom randomly checks the mail im screwed. Plus she is home for winter break until early January so I'm going to try to find an alternate location to mail them. I went out early today and started digging a hole for one of my bagseeds i have from some decent bud. But the soil is way to rocky in Texas. After i dig up a rock there is another one under it. So im just going to get a 15 gallon tote from walmart for "her"(hopefully). Any specific nutes i should get for Autos?
not too sure about the nutes, i would think feed her more phosphorous because shes goin directly into flowering, but idk. Maybe someone with a little more auto experience would wanna chime in on that
I live in Central Texas aswell, I have 14 acres of land, I'm thinking of growing outdoors, Idk about autoflowering though, ill most likely veg some in a hydroponics system indoors and grow some outside to get more yield.
You don't need any particular nutes for autoflowering strains. They veg less long (3-4 weeks) so place them in the sun quickly. Use a mix with castings (Nitrogen) and at the bottom of the hole or pot add chicken manure (or another dry general fert with NPK). All mixed in some peat or coco for airing out. The plant just feeds on the castings , then , in flower will go get the chicken manure at the bottom third. 3 gallons of soil is enough for most autos. Some are longer vegging but don't dig a huge hole with lots of nutes for a small plant. Also yo can top dress with a general fert during flowering if they get pale. Water once with epsom salts. Just water with normal water besides that. The plant eats wht's in the soil or as a top dressing.
Should i put them straight into FFOF+ perilite after seeds pope open or put them into just top soil and let them grow a little bit before thrown into the good soil.
I've never used FFOF (it could burn seedlings if it has real nutes aka not just castings). I just use Dankohzee's seedling soil mix on the top half (for veg) (= 40%peat 30 % castings 30% perlite). Then at the bottom half I place chicken manure or any general dry organic fert (1-1-1). Water with plain water all season long. Autos are super small so don't need much veg. I don't like autos because they yield hardly anything. Make sure they're in the sun early because they'll start to flower (= stop growing) after 4 weeks about.
I would look into opening a PO box if you're planning on ordering seeds more than once, only problem is UPS doesn't deliver to PO boxes so it will have to be shipped USPS which usually takes a little while longer.
