Gona start my firt outdoor marijuana grow tomoro!!!! I already have the perfect spot. Iv'e been looking around on here a little to get some info but i still have a few questions. Do i HAVE to germinate my seeds before planting them? Would it help? Or can i just plant the seed ? Should i plant the seeds in the ground, or in a pot?
No you don't have to germinate the seeds first. That is to weed out the unvialble seeds, so you only plant the seeds with potential to grow up and become a plant. Also, when you germinate you have total control over the environment... In nature, not so much. I guess you would have a better success-rate with germinating first, letting them sprout, and after a week or so, transplant to nature. Dig a hole and put the cup/pot with the seedling in the hole. place soil around it, so it is totally level, and when you take out the pot there is a perfect hole left from the pot. Then you carefully remove the rootball/seedling from the pot, and place it back into the premade hole. Viola! When removing small seedlings from small pots, like cups, I like to take my palm/hand over the top of the pot, the stem and foiliage coming through between my middle fingers. I turn it upside-down and press lightly around the sides and bottom of the cup to loosen the rootball from the pot. After no time at all, the seedling with rootball and all, comes out perfect.
I would germinate them first using the paper towel method. But its personal choice. Some of your seeds have the potential not to sprout and from germination, you know which one these are. Also you just have more control like it was said above. Start off your plants in cups or smaller pots until they are about a week and a half in from sprouting out of the soil. Then just dig a hole in the ground, fill with a good choice of soil and plant your seedling in the ground and you will be good to go. What i do is germinate all my seedlings and then plant them in those red cups and place the cups outside on a table or on the ground and put a few rocks around it so the wind doesnt knock it over. After about a week and a half, I put my finger around the stem upside down and pull the lump of dirt out and plant it in my big hole that was made.
