First grow need some advice please

  1. I started 15 bagseeds by germinating in moist towel. After rooting started planted in 5 inch dixie cups. Three began to grow after 2 weeks no growth started 3 more. Now have 6 growing plants 2 weeks apart. I am using 2 six foot flourescents with 2 gro lux cool bulbs in each. Transplanted after 3 weeks of growth and that went well. I am using MG slow release and only watering when necessary. Vegetative going well new growth everyday. Using 18/6 light cycle and have a constant fan in constant 75Degree F temps. Any suggestions for flowering to get best bud.

  2. I guarantee we will be seeing u in the 'sick plants' forum within a few weeks ;)

  3. Trying to avoid this what should i change.

  4. Some strains do better than others with ferted MG, but most quickly develop problems and alot die due to you do not want any ferts in the soil with sprouts.

It is like feeding a bottle of whiskey to a baby, they are too young :)

I have seen MG makes no fert soil and have heard others in forums say it is ok. Other than aded ferts and some using some odd gel chemical that retains water which causes root rot, MG plain potting soil may be ok.

You can transplant them into better plain potting soil and add perlite or let them go and watch them carefully for the starting of fert burn. Good luck :)

Edit: Even the dollar store sells bags of dirt for 1$, I haven't used it but my GF buys it for gardening and it looks suprisingly dark which is good, you just need to add perlite. They may not have it anymore though as the season is ending. I have found and used both Promix and Sunshine Mix #4 in gardening stores. Sunshine being better than promix as promix has a pH of 5.5.

  5. Is perlite ok early in the game?

  6. Perlite is fine...it is just like a little stone with lots of air pockets, it is basically inert and is used to both hold air in the soil when dry and hold water for alittle while when wet.

  7. Thanks Right now they are about a month old 5 have newts 1 growing newts extremely well. All are standing up towards lights and i have not gave any external fertilizer I wil be posting pics shortly.

  8. Forgot to mention closley monitoring PH added lime to keep ph at about 6.7-7.1

  9. It is better to know the pH of soil first and if it is low, like promix being5.5 pH, you get a tub, mix the right amount to lime to the soil, wet it and let it sit for 3 weeks as lime takes 3 weeks to fully adjust the soil. It ise best done before growing. I am unsure of the results of adding to the top of the planted soil but alot do it, I am just unsure if it helps.

  10. Im using a soil testing kit sold at lowes, and when soil tested no lime, ph 6.0 after lime 6.7-7.1 range. One question anyone have success with gro-lux lights (walmart) and should i change for flowering.

  11. the MG i was planning to use for my grow says it has a fert that is an npk mix of .18-.06-.12, is the npk mixture bad for seedlings?

it also has a water retaining agent, is that what that gel stuff is?

  12. Not sure about the gel but from different things i have read from multiple sources i think you what a nutrient rating of 20-20-20

  13. ah ok, i guess i wont buy that soil then. thanks
