Hey guys, this will be my first grow. I'm in a 3x3x5.6 tent, with a 600w hps, a 16" black ops carbon filter, and a 400 cfm fan w a variable fan speed controller. For my grow box I've got an 8 sight 3 gallon top fed DWC. Since the rest is so small(holds about 2.5g about 1" under 3" net pots) I've only got 1 going in it, will be building a 5 gallon bucket down the road but for now gonna use this. As you can see I'm running a passive intake from the bottom of the window to the bottom of the tent. And I'm running the exhaust thru the filter, thru the hood, and out the tent to the top of the window Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
So I germed straight in rockwool and hydroton. Took about a week of keeping my water ph'd and around 77° to 79°. I'm using just ph'd water no nutes, the day before I finally got my lil sprout I added a proper dosage of hydroguard. And this is what I came home to 12 hours later And another twelve hours later after helping it's lil seed hat off And here's about 14 hours later Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
My environment seems to be doing perfect as well. Temps stay around 70, humidity 50 to 60%. And my resevoir is staying around 68 to 72°. So far so good. Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
looks dope, you need some co2 in there i think, you can make it for about 1-2 dollars all in all. Btw are you planting 8 seeds or ?
Just gonna do the one since my res only holds 2.5 gallons. Was gonna go for an lst and manifold for 8 colas. And explain the co2 to me, like why do you think I need it? Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
looks good...you will find that 1 plant will be enough for that size tent if lst is used. The bigger the rez, the more stable it will be, so 5 gallon will be better. Keep a good eye on the rez temp, and keep 68 or below, or root problems will start to show. I hope this helps
Thanks goat. I'm freezing some water bottles now to cycle in it. And doesn't hydroguard help protect against root problems? Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
1 is perfectly fine but I would run atleast 1 more alongside it because nature can always take a turn, but that's just my 2 cents. As for the co2 I wouldn't call it a must have but plants breath in Co2 and it's best to supply them suitable amounts, just like we do better with suitable amounts of oxygen. But I guess all in all for just 1 plant you can leave the tent zipper open a couple of hours during it's light time.
I'm pulling fresh air from outside though, wouldn't that take care of the co2 depletion? See I'm pulling fresh air in the bottom of the window n exhausting old air out the top. I only have the one fan but it's a 400 cfm n my tent is 49 cubic feet so I've got good airflow Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Oh that's awesome how you're intaking the fresh air, yea I guess that settles the co2 bro. I'll definately try something like that for my own grow room. feel free to check it out. My Multi Strain, SOG grow Op ! Best of luck to you, i'll be checking in every once in a while to see whats up.
Yea I figured as long as I ran the exhaust out the top the hot air would rise away from the window while the intake pulled cool air in from outside. And nice setup man it looks awesome. I thought about getting an MH for veg but I'm gonna try this whole grow with just my hps n see how it goes Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Yeah that would work, hot air on top and cool from the bottom. Thanks btw, You have to be okay with the hps, you'll slowly add stuff when you can i'm sure of it.
I had a MH for veg, but ended up using fluorescent lights to slow down my vegging...(I use 2 seperate rooms)...now I time everything clone wise and still use fluorescent lights during veg. I threw the MH in between 2 HPS in the flower room and use it that way now.
So I've had my frozen water bottle in there for about 2 hours n I'm down from 72.6 to 69.4 gonna check in a few more hours n see where it's at. Also turned my fan up some since my intake is right by the box I'm hoping more cool air will help chill it more Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Aight so frozen water bottle only gettin my res down to about 68.4. But I wanna go a few more degrees. Next I'm gonna try putting my water pump on a timer for 15 on n 15 off n see if the off n on instead of constantly on will lower the heat the pump is producing Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
One factor I overlooked when researching my grow was the difference between a sterile res and a live res (beneficial bacteria). If you are going with a sterile res then water temps are crucial, but bacteria is inevitable. When you introduce benes to your res you dont have to worry so much about temps.
That's what I was thinking and I'm not using nutes yet just ph'd water and I did start my hydroguard regiment so I was thinking a lil warmer wouldn't hurt but I was also reading that DO content is higher in the lower 60's like 65 Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Well I've got a dimmable ballast, what do you think about cutting the power down some to slow veg? I can do 50% 75% or 100%, currently at 100 Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Are you running the top feed right now? I'm asking because I'm worried about your rockwool being too wet. The hydroguard should keep your res fine until you decide to add nutes and benes and yes the DO content is higher in lower temps.
Yes I'm running top feed on timer running 15 on 15 off. I used a 1.5" grodan but I cut it down to probly half that with a box cutter so the rockwool is fairly small with about 2" of hydroton under Sent from my SM-G920V using Grasscity Forum mobile app
