First Grow - Micro Grow: Magic Bud in Soil under Flouro

Discussion in 'Marijuana Grow Journals' started by Seeka, Mar 18, 2007.

  1. I've put a jar of water in the cabinet and will see if that brings the humidity up a little. I've also added quite a bit more water to the trays that the plants are sitting in. However I dont want to over water them or end up with root rot.

Having removed the 125 watt growking and just leaving the 225 watt in the temp has now dropped to 90 - still too high I think.

Anyone else got ona thoughts on this please.

  2. 90s a ltitle high, you should try to lower it to 75 idealy.

looking good though have been and will continue to watch this grow!!

  3. some strains like it a bit hotter then the recomended 78F.

I have some WW cookin in a similar tiny box my themo says it got up to 107 at some point today..... idk how this could be cause it was snowing out and it was 79 when I left and 79 when I returned....maybe the fan died idk bu they all grew a bunch last night! no signs of burn or anything

anyways the point im tryin to make is WW for instance liked it hotter although i dont want it ever gettin that hot again. if the plants are growing and doin well at 90 then its fine it obviously gets way above 90 around the equator and plants do really well there

  4. really nice grow too! I hope they both go fem. ur right they are really dense plants perfect for your situation

  5. Hey all - thanks for looking in and the words of encouragement!

The good news is they're both going to be females as I only used feminised seeds. I just couldn't stand the thought of spending two months growing, all that anticipation and then discovering they were boys! I just hope they have no reason to hermie on me!!

I think the heat issue should be resolved when I get another fan installed and can create more air through the cabinet.

I was also reading up about humidity and it seems that it's going to be better to have to work at keeping the humidity up than trying to keep it down - I don't want to suffer like others with bud-rot after all the hard work.

Well guys, i'm signing off for the night now. I've got no weed and have spent the last hour sucking my cheeks in with a J rolled from 'Sweat-Bush' - a herbal smoking blend. It kinda mellows me out a little but has left me without any of the joys of true bud. So, if anyone out there is thinking of sparking up tonight, think of me when you do and...

  6. yea that fan should def help and will make your stems stronger. Since you are still vegging i would really try and get your humidity up i think its recommended 60%. when you start flowering then you will need to lower them to 40%. i know this will not ruin your grow because u dont have 60% humidity i was just giving you ideas on how to get higher humidity.

just wait til you harvest and cure and u have all that fresh dank nugget :smoking: lol good luck

  7. more pics please...this is like online crack for me, anyway great grow! i tihink you should lst both of them. topping would take up alot of space in your situation. where will the clones be kept?

  8. Glad you're enjoying it guys! More pics coming tomorrow... (who needs internet porn when you can see all this weed growing!).

The girls are looking good today - the new bulb, which is actually 250 watt (not 225 as I thought) seems to have really done the trick. They are fattening up nicely and the LST on Blondie seems to be going well, she keeps reaching up for more light and the lower shoots are growing much more rapidly. I'm preparing to top the other one and I want to try to raise this cutting as a clone. The surgery takes place tomorrow.

I've realised that I'm going to need to take more time in vegging, perhaps another month. I'm not bothered as I want to get a good result. As I keep saying, I'm not after pounds/kilos of bud (although that would ne nice!!) I just want to produce enough stock for personal use. My leftover weed is dry as dust and tastes really funny. However it still packs a punch. I went out last night to a nice restaurant and popped my budbomb in my pocket...

I managed to sneak off to the loo three times and hit it - I got completely wasted and it was hilarious; nobody at the table knew I was smoking and I was talking all sorts of shit (more than normal) and just having a blast! Then when I got back home I fired up the rest and drifted off listening to some heavy trance music on headphones. It was grrrrreat! Feeling really mellow today, very chilled.

I've just cannibalised another old PC and have extracted the fan. I've wired it up to an old TV digibox transformer - 16volts. It's perfect and much more powerful that the one fan that I have installed at the moment. So tomorrow I'm going to install this second fan as an intake, that should help cool everything down a bit.

Anyway Happy Easter to Everyone and...

  9. Thanks Closet - hey, I read your link about the odor neutraliser thing; looks good. I've also read that you can use baking soda as it is a natural de-odoriser, anyone tried it?

  10. Hey All -

Lot's of news to share with you today.

First off I've listened to all your advice and fitted a new fan. This is a second PC fan designed to draw fresh air into my grow cabinet. The other fan is extracting air slowly and with the switch to the new 250 watt light the temp had gone up to over 90 degrees.

I wired up the new fan and realised that I would also need to create a light trap (with a bigger bulb light leaks are more noticable now). I've used a couple of old shoe boxes with the bottoms cut off. This has proved to work well and also cuts down on the noise a little.

I've also been thinking about cutting down on the smell, although it's not a real problem. I've screwed together a contraption made from a Pringles tube, a mini PC/processor fan, and used some new filter material from a cooker hood (don't laugh!) I've screwed the fan to the metal base (which is now the top) after cutting a hole. Then I wrapped the tube in black tape (don't want my girls getting the munchies when they read the outside of the tube!!). I drilled holes all over the tube. Then I've rolled up a length of the fiber filter material for a cooker hood and put this inside and put the cap on. The idea is that the fan will draw air through the holes and across the filter. It probably won't work but it was fun making it!!! I might get some active carbon and add this at some point.

So that's the cabinet sorted, now to the plants...

  11. next to deal with the girls...

I wanted to top Short Brunett (as she's known) and continue with LST for Leggy Blonde. Being greedy (or a conservationist!) I didn't want to waste the clipped top but try to grow it on if possible.

I don't know if you've come across them before but there are pots of rooting gel that you put a cutting in.. I've used them before for other plants, they're great! They give the required nutrients and moisture and they keep the plant stable as the new roots grow. You can buy them from gardening centres...

    Groovy Roots.JPG

    Then I topped Shorty...

    Topped.JPG

The new clone(?!) was then put in the gel...

    In the gel.jpg

And put back with her Mum...

    Back With Mum.jpg

And in case you are wondering how know they're all girls, well I cheated and bought feminsed seeds. However the good news is I think this shows signs of sex (about the closest I'll get to it this week!!)...

    Shes a Girl.JPG

    Next, more bondage with Blondie...

  12. ... so that takes care of the cooling and the topping for Shorty.

I'm really hopeful that the new cutting/topping works out...

    New Clone.JPG

Leggy has been doing well and responding to my attempts at LST quite well also.

There appear to be lots of new bud sites and the top is trying to grow back up towards the light. I've moved the string further down and have cleared away (pruned off) some of the bigger leaves. Not sure if I should have done this as they are obviously important to the plant in terms of absorbing light. However, I felt that I'd rather the light fell on the new shoots, which some of the bigger fn leaves were covering, and I want the plant to focus it's energy on growing those new shoots.

    Lst2.JPG

I feel much happier with this plant now and she's looking quite strong. The pruing will hopefully give her a reason to get on with growing.

    continue LST.JPG

So, my girls are back together. I hope the new baby clone takes off and goes for it.

To find out what happened next, don't miss the next exciting eppisode....!!

  13. You're not going to beleive this ... but the filter-thingie I made has actually worked!!!

I suppose it's a straight forward idea and if it is pulling the smelly air through something designed to filter out nasty smells it should work. So, perhaps I get a gold star for invention!! If you fancy having a go give it a try.

(I kinda miss the smell now though - intoxicating and delicious!!!)

The temps have dropped now to about 80 degrees (still high) but overall the plants are looking really good. Having topped Shorty seems to have done the trick and new growth all over is noticable! Blondie has turned her head back up to the sun again and continues to struggle against my Japanese string bondage!

The little baby clone isn't looking too good. The larger leaves (still not very big) have wilted considerably but the smaller budding leaves in the centre seem OK. I guess it might take a few days for it to recover from the shock and hopefully the super-dooper gel stuff will work.

Anyhow, that's all for now folks.

    Take It Easy!!

  14. Hey there,
Really interesting grow you've got there, I'll be following intently. Your grow space and lighting is similar to what I'm considering growing with so I'm very interested in your progress and overall yeild. ........and it's nice to see some fellow Brits on here!

Regarding the clone; maybe try propping it up on something in order to get it closer to the lights?I'm not quite sure how far it is now...

In closing, plants looking lovely and good luck!Keep us updated.

  15. Thanks qwert! Like you say, good to have some other Brits represented here!

I think you're right about propping up the small new clone higher to the lamp.

  16. Well, I decided today that actually I would Top the other plant as well.

I'm not sure if you should top if you're planning to LST - I've got mixed messages about this.

Anyhow, after looking at my plants today I decided that topping Leggy Blonde is a good idea. Shorty has responded really well to this and is looking much healthier.

I reckon that by doing this I'll give the other shoots more of a chance to grow and even if I dont complete a total LST (with a nice spiral form) I can still get more shoots growing and developing - this is how the surgery took place today...

I've gone for the same idea with the topped growth and hope that the rooting/growing gel pot works - watch this space!!

Take It... You know the rest!

  17. Well, my topped clones are hanging in there - they've not died but aren't looking great - shock I guess. Pix to follow on Sunday (gardening day!).

Latest problem; more bloody nute burn - MUST learn not to feed too much!!!

Going to switch to flowering on Sunday!!!!!!

    Take It Easy!

  18. just curious what does the wiring look like for the PC fan?

  19. Fan wiring - dead easy...

You'll have two wires running off the fan; one black and one red (or red and black). Just cut the jack off the end of the transformer you're going to use - i used old mobile/cell phone chargers (the output power needs to be below 12volts (although I've got my main fan wired up to 16 volts and it really pushes the air)). You'll need to get the wiring the right way 'round - there;s only two options! I found when I got it wrong the fan didn't work.

I've then used some electrical connector blocks, like you'd use for a car stereo. Or you can just twist them together and use electrical tape but I find the connector blocks are 'cleaner' and less likley to pull apart.

I'll post pics tomorrow - my set up needs to be moved to get to the wiring and I'm planning to change to flowering tomorrow so will set up the timers.

Hope that all makes sense, if not PM me and I'll try to describe it better. Just remember to keep the voltage down - always use a transformer or you'll be in trouble!!
