First Grow micro cabinet

  1. February 13th, 2019:

The grower I was working with for the clones has not come through.

    I purchased this beautiful girl.

She is Northern lights and as you can see quite tall and leggy.

Here she is after transplanting into a 3 gallon fabric pot.

I have already started training her to spread out.

I want to fill my cabinet as much as possible.

She has been on 24hr lights, so my first task is to slowly change to 18 on and 6 off.

I will change an hour every two days (hopefully this will not put her into flower mode)

My biggest question now is how aggressive can I be in cutting her back. I need to keep her short so I have enough room to flower.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  2. That thing is huge. If it's a female, keep it as a mom and clone it, use smaller containers for the clones, that's what I'd do. Keep them small.

  3. Cloning my girl:

So I decided to be aggressive in topping my girl.

Just to get an Idea here are before and after pictures.

This is my very first grow and and first try in cloning.

    Before trimming

And here she is after the trimming

    Here are her six babies

And here is momma and babies back in the grow cabinet

So we will see how many of these six actually root, or rot

    Another picture of the cabinet.

The shelf has been adjusted to the very bottom of the cabinet.

I am thinking that I have a bit of a conundrum, with one cabinet, how do I grow the mother while also growing the clones?

I would like to keep this as my mother plant.

I read someplace that I can flower this mother then “re-veg” and take some more clones.

I am trying to find a way of eventually getting all my cannabis from my own grows, including clones.

    Any suggestions?

  4. Nice! Nxt round get those lowest shoot when they grow some

  5. I wanted to update my grow journal.

Here are some new shots of my plant.

I am continuing to train my plant as I want to make it fairly even across the top.

    Hoping to spread even more.

Here is a shot of my clones

It has been 7 days since I cut these clones.

No roots showing yet, but I am keeping them misted and covered.

Hope to see roots in another week.

My main concern right now is when I should start giving my main plant some nutrients.

When should I start, and do you have a recommendation for a first time grower?

What type of nutes should I use and how often?

Currently I am watering every three days with pH 6.5 water.

    Thanks for your assistance.

  6. When I start to see fading in the color of my leaves. I start at 1/4 strength feeding once. Week what soil are you using?

  7. I am using Foxfarms ocean forest.
I have had my plant for 10 days, however I do not know exactly how old she is.
Also the dispensary creates their own clones and when I got this she was close to 2 ft tall.
I was told they were giving her "Maxsea" which is tripple 16
I have not given her anything except pH balance water.

  8. How much does a dispensary charge for a clone.. how do they go about pricing.. size, age or strain??

  9. Around here they seem to be priced by strain and or size.
Standard 4" pot is usually around 25 or 30 dollars
The one I bought was in a 1 gallon pot and as I said close to 2 ft tall.
    Cost me 50.00$

  10. I added the top of a tomato cage to my 3 gallon pot. This gives me the advantage of being able to tie the branches down and will hopefully allow me to complete the flowering process without my plant getting too tall.

I also took my last 4 cuttings from this plant. I am trying a new rooting solution, organic raw honey.

I have trimmed a few upper fan leaves to allow more light to penetrate.

    Current pictures.

Planning on flipping to 12/12 next weekend.

I added “big bloom” and “grow big” to water today.

I will get a small fan to add a bit more air movement.

  11. Pictures of my second cabinet. This will be used for keeping a mother plant. Will also be used for starting and vegging clones.

The cabinet is 24” wide, 22” deep, and 36” high.

    I am using a 2ft t-5 light with 4 43 watt 6500k bulbs.

There is a flat panel heater setup with a thermostat to keep the (dark) temps between 63 and 65.

You can also see that there is a 3” vent fan, as well as vent holes on bottom of right side.

I have placed weather stripping all the way around the door. Not so much for light prevention, as this will be 18/6 lights, but to keep heat in while lights are on.

I'll be using 4” pots and rectangle tray.

Best news of the day, 5 out of 6 of the very first cuttings are showing roots, after 30 days!

  12. That took em a long time to root eh. What's you're cloning process?

  13. Well it was my first time.
Cuttings were about 4to6 inches long and had at least 4 distinct nodes.
After cutting I put them in water
After trimming the fan leaves and cutting off the lower nodes, I made a final cut about 1/2 inch below the last node.
I mixed up a solution of dip and grow, dipped the cutting in it, and inserted it into a pre soaked rockwool.
Then placed all the cuttings under a humidity dome.
I misted them every day for the first 2 weeks
I opened the vents on the dome after that and still misted every other day.

  15. Thanks SLG
I just flipped the larger cabinet to 12/12
Hope my girl produces a boatload of gorgeous buds

  16. She will, your footprint is perfect and you can get within inches of those cfls with any issue

  17. I may be borrowing trouble but,
So as I start this process I have a Question
I am expecting that my girl will stretch during flowering.
    So two different possibilities
    1. I wait to tie down any colas after my lights are at Max height.
    Or
    2. I combine the tie down and the raising of the lights. (Will probably do this one)

  18. 30 days is a pretty long time to root as most will root in 2 weeks.. it also takes me about a month now to root a cutting..

But my very first clone rooted in 5 days.. i have it posted in one of my journals on here..
I wish i can get my enviorment to be that perfect again.. had to move my operation to a new location & ive been on the
    cold/dry side since..

    Drying and curing.

I know I have probably 3 to 4 weeks left of flowering.

However I have been looking for information on drying and curing.

Seems most of what I have found is based on users who inhale LOL

I am growing for edibles only (mainly coconut oil capsules, and the occasional Canna butter).

It seems to me that the drying and curing process might be different for me?

Any special instructions for medical edibles growers?
Anything special about harvesting or trimming?

  20. She just finished her 4th week of 12/12.

I think she looks pretty good.

As this is my first grow ever, I am only guessing another month?

I hope all those bud sites start filling out.

I have increased the nutes to full strength FF, grow big, big bloom, and tiger bloom.

Nutes today second time this week.

I think she may be done stretching (I still have another 4 inches I can raise my lights)

    Any thoughts on additional nutes?

    Anything I should be doing?

Been doing a lot of reading on when to harvest, drying and curing.
