First Grow micro cabinet

  1. This is my very first grow, here is the grow area.

Indoor cabinet located in partially heated wood shop.

    Cabinet size is 48” H X 36” W X 20” D (inside measurements)

Cabinet is made from ½ “ plywood, it has 1” rigid foam insulation covered by ¼ “ white melamine. Cabinet is on casters for easy moving. The doors are made of ¼ oak plywood (1 ½” solid frame).

    Front of cabinet.

Back of cabinet. You can see the duct work for the PC fan.

Three timers, one for the fan, one for the lights, and one for the heater.

The moving blanket helps hold in heat as well as blocking light from around the doors.

    The inside includes

Adjustable lights currently holding 8 ea 42w CFL.

    Adjustable shelf.

PC fan (120 mm three speed 12 volt)

    Thermostat controls small 250w heater.

I have two thermometers (one connected to my intranet so I can remotely monitor temps, and set alarms for to high or too low)

    Lights and fan on.

I currently have the fan running on low and the duct work partially closed, with the lights on I can keep the temperature around 80°, with the ability to raise or lower temperature as needed.

I plan on running my light cycle from 6 PM to 12 noon, using the small heater and thermostat to keep the “dark temperature” around 60° .

I plan on growing GG#4. I will get two clones in about a week.

Will transplant into 1 gal or maybe straight into 2 gallon pots

I have a great local source for all my plant needs.

    Soil, pH tester, and nutrients.

I would appreciate any helpful comments or encouragement.

  2. Pretty nifty. I’d definitely scrog. Top, lst, and scrog early on!

  3. Not sure yet which way to go.
SCROG or some other type of training.
I want to fill my space.
I have heard of many training methods, but haven't researched much.
    Main line?
    Double main line?
    Something called pinwheel?

  4. Scrog or mainline it. Wouldn’t a bad idea to check out @MickFoster he’s got a thread that he mainlined.

  5. Bed for my girls.

I am getting pumped, should get my girls in another week.
I need to make sure everything is ready for their homecoming.

Right now I am thinking about pots and trays (or saucers).

My shelf is 19” by 36”, and I want to utilize the space best I can.
I would imagine my girls will come in solo cups or maybe 4” pots.

Where do I go from there? Transplant into full size containers or work my way up using 1 gallon, then 2 gallon, then full size?

I need to consider how tall the pot is as I want to be able to get the most growth from these ladies.

Also I have read that you need to remove your “runoff” water but not move your plants around a lot. So I am thinking about a single tray for both pots set on a slight angle so runoff water is at the front of the tray for easier removal?

    Help please.

  6. U ordered clones and or seedling already started?

  7. Moving in veg isn’t bad it they ain’t huge. Just sucks. Get a nice size turkey baster ir Syringe and suck the water out. If u check ph having it all go in one tub won’t be good. Then if any infections or stupid shit happens it could maybe go to other plants thru water(just a thought. No clue)

  8. Since ur on a retangle shelf I’d go with square plastic pots as u up pot then Drop in a cloth on final pot

  9. Ordered clones so they should be well rooted

  10. That is what I was thinking square plastic.
Are you suggesting I use a fabric pot (square) inside of my final square plastic pot?
Then a seperase tray or saucers for each?

  11. Cool, where would I order clones from and do they ship to the USA?

  12. Don't know
I get them locally from another grower

  13. Gotcha...cool deal. Idk any real growers irl

  14. Everything I get comes from out of state

  15. Ok so now I am thinking about soil.
Should I use "Super Soil" or some other type of soil where I add my own nutrients?
Also considering smart pots as opposed to regular plastic ones?

    What are you using?

  16. I've tried a few training methods in a cabinet and the scrog is definitely more efficient in my opinion. I've got a grow going now without the screen and it's surely not as simple as having the screen.

  17. Hmmm I woulda thought having a scrog/screen would be harder bc u can’t move plants. What size tent do u have? I have like 10 plants in my 3x3. No screen. But it is a hassle keeping the mains up straight. Is that why u say it’s easier, bc the screen supports the buds?

  18. I haven't done any big grows so far but in smaller spaces I think it's easier to manage.

  19. try some low stress training make sure you go 3 gallon if u want a nice harvest

  20. That is my plan, if I can just get my clones..........
I have two 3 gal fabric pots ready and waiting.
Seems my grower missplaced my plants and has to start all over.

I may just see if I can find some clones at my local dispensary.

Poor cabinet is just setting there waiting for plants.
