I have been growing my plant for 3 weeks now from germination. It seems to be doing ok. My main concerns are that it's growing up too much instead of growing out, and how long I should keep it in vegetative stage before flowering. Any and all advice is welcome.
What light are you using? If so I wouldn't recommend to use that anymore based on how much your plant is stretching, there simply isn't enough light getting to the plant. I would recommend investing in some kind of grow light like cfl's or an led if you want to get any type of yeild indoors. Anywho happy growing
Growth rate and production are both relative to light...wattage and spectrum. It's the most important equipment in the indoor grow. If your plant is stretching (too tall too fast), you need to bring light and plant closer or get stronger light. They don't even show sex till 2 months old, so veg time needs to at least be several weeks. We do a 10 week cycle for veg/flower cycles. Bigger plant gets you better harvest. Don't flower more plants than your light can handle. If you don't understand that statement, need to spend some time reading up on lights, lighting in general and just how much light you actually need to suit your space and goals as far as number you want to flower each time.
Haha I do agree that cfl's are definitely not the best option (especially with cheap leds getting so popular), just thought that it was a cheap alternative for someone like him. When I first started I was using them but then upgraded to quantum boards and started using ironhead's nutrient formula and the improvement is pronominal.
I'm just using a cheap halogen setup until I move into my new house and get new equipment. I moved the plant closer to the light, are there any signs I should be looking for if it's getting too much light? I appreciate all the feedback, thanks guys.
Haha good to hear man. Literally just placed an order for a galaxyhydro LED setup. 300w. Only $80. It'll be here in 2 days. Is my plant still salvageable if I get it under that light and continue my light schedule? Or should I start a new one?
I'd try and salvage it. It's good you're switching lighting though. Halogen just doesn't provide the correct spectrum and also produces lots of heat. You'll be MUCH happier with your new LED. If possible start more as suggested above. J
Update: I have had the new LED for about a week or so, and the plant looks all around "happier". It has grown a new set of leaves basically each day, and it has started growing second branches. I have tried to pop a couple new seeds and I just assume after a week of not popping, the seeds are no good? Thanks for all the advice, and anything else you guys think I should know from this point on, let me know.
