This is my first grow. I had five plants from a couple of different types of seeds but three of them died, and two of them (same strain) are still doing well. They've been growing for about four weeks. #1 smells very good but is starting to have some yellowing problems with the bottom leaves. #2 is having some serious problems with brown curly leaves, and a couple of the leaves died so we cut them off. What's up with both of these plants? Is it time for nutrients yet? Please help!! #1 yellow leaves and holes in #1 #2 1 on the left and 2 on the right
Yellowing in the lower leaves is caused by Nitrogen Deficiency. Get some MiracleGro Plant Food, apply at 1/4 or 1/2 strength and according to directions.
Your soil looks like absolute crap! Its very "barky" which is very acidic. If I were you I'd go buy some quality soil and some perolite and transplant. They look like they are pretty small for 4 weeks. Have they been outdoors the whole time?
It's actually organic soil and I've transplanted a couple of plants into this soil and they've done better than before. If it's acidy, I guess I need to check the Ph and just adjust that- better than getting new soil. Yeah it's probably been about 3-4 weeks and they've been outside the whole time but have suffered some minor set backs (storms, etc)
