So as the title says, This is my first grow ever, and I started with all bagseeds. 7 in total. I have culled 2 males so far, and the rest Are either female, Or too soon to tell. Using potting soil as a medium. Feeding light doses of 5-1-1 nutes every 3 days or so. currently outdoors, but may have to bring em indoors to flower weather permitting. I know it's not advised, but I have 3 plants in the same pot currently. They should be within a week or so of sexing(theyre about 7 1/2 weeks old). If they're not already. At which point, I will transplant the girls to their own container. The other plant is potted by itself already, and Correct me if I'm wrong, But she's a lady right? Experienced growers, let me know what you think. I would love some advice. Please let me know what you think of the sex of the plants. I have tried to show pics of the plants as a whole, and of the preflower locations. Or what I believe to be preflowers. I'm eager to hear what everyone has to say.
good luck separating the 3 if they are all female just put all 3 in a larger container the roots will be tangled and the 1 looks female good luck next year use bigger containers 5 gal minimum but 10 or more are prefered outdoors i use 20
If I transplant all 3 together into a 20 gallon, do you think they can still thrive, or Have I completely ruined the 3 in one? I culled one from the same pot a few days ago (pollen sacs). Pulled from the roots. Seemed like it may have been slightly Tangled with another plant, But it's been probably close to a week, And the other plans aren't showing any signs of stress from it. ( that I can tell) I know you said To transplant them all Into the same pot together. Does that change it all with what I just told you?
So essentially, I will remove the plants from their current pot, soil and all, and put it into a large 20+ gallon container. Once done, how would you recommend tying them to train them to grow apart? I appreciate all the advice i've gotten so far.
I'm saying pull tops if possible and side branches down or outward but away from each other and put stakes in the ground or something to tie them to to open up your plant where light can get to all the plant and you'll have airflow
So are u wanting me to top the plants ( cut Off the tip) as well as LST training the branches by tying down with stakes pulling them apart? Or Are you simply saying to use stakes and Plant ties at the tips and branches and stake them to the ground so they are all "bending" away from each other. Sorry if some of my questions are silly. Just really wanna get this right.
It's up to you if you top but I was saying to do the rest but of course if you knew how to supercrop I would probably do some supercropping. I'm assuming since your new you don't know what that is so I would just tie and stake them top if you want but do it soon if you want to top because they probably getting ready to flower. I would tie and stake them though. No problem with questions that's how you learn. There are plenty of videos and stuff to read about all these things. I grow indoors now but I learned outdoors.
.they shouldn't be ready to flower quite yet... They're photos I germinated 8 weeks ago. Correct me if I'm wrong, But I thought outdoor plants will continue to veg sometimes up to 2 months after showing preflowers.
Correct about 2 months even 4 or longer but it's the time of year where days are getting shorter and shorter days trigger photo plants to flower unless you live in a different hemisphere. Is it summer there? Getting ready to be fall in a month or 2?
Yeah, summer Here. About 2-2 1/2 months of warm left. Would turning On my patio light at night time keep them in veg longer? Or some kind of supplemental lighting intended for outdoor use that might help?
You can give supplemental lighting to keep em in veg but I don't know how cold it gets there. If it gets cold they want have enough time to ripen. I never have did this though but yeah you can veg a plant as long as you want keeping light on it as long as the rest of the environment is good
However I don't positively know if that's enough supplemental lighting. Maybe bring them inside put em in a room that the light stays on. I'm treading on ground im not sure about though
My worry is, If they already beginning to Flower, They're looking awfully scraggly. Would it be enough to bring them into my garage at night time and leave the light on in there?? I've been looking at outdoor grow lights for supplemental lighting. I know they wouldn't be Enough on their own, but do you think they could work for; A)keeping them in veg, and B) getting them More direct light then they're able to receive from the Sun. Currently there receiving around 10 to 12 hours of Direct sunlight each day. Also been considering buying a pop up greenhouse for them. Ideas?
Update. The plants are doing well. For the most part. The 3 that were together are now 2 living together. Had to cull one. The other 2 just wouldn't let it live... anywhere, transplanted them together to a 20 gallon and tied them apart so they're growing in different directions. I just topped the smaller of the 2 singles a couple days ago. My first time topping a plant. She seems to be doing just fine. No signs of extreme stress. The biggest girl had a little accident. Small break in the main stem. Took care of it with tape and a pencil splint. Doesn't seem to be bothering her all that much. I have been blessed with lots of sunny days the last couple weeks. I have been moving the girls throughout the day to follow the sun. On a good day they can get 11-12 hours of Direct sunlight. I leave them outside until the sun goes down, then bring them inside under regular lights. I'm attempting to extend the veg just a tad in order to reap a higher quality/quantity. The issue... I'm running out of long warm days. That being said, in the next week or so, I will be getting 1 or 2 full spectrum led panels. Essentially looking for the cheapest way to get a decent quality harvest from this spontaneous first time grow. I'm open to suggestions on the lights for sure. Essentially, I want to continue using what sunlight I can during the day. And bring them inside for more light when the sun goes down, or when it's too cold outside. Or both. Please point me in the right direction. If left to my own devices, I will probably end up with something like a cheap yet effective light proof area in my garage, covered in refletive material, and powered by one Mars hydro ts1000 (or something comparable) plus another cheaper full spectrum led panel (50-75$) Anyone have any suggestions to help me make this a reality. I'm open to any legit help.
In my opinion I would flower those outside and not extend the veg time much longer then use the lights you are talking about for a complete new grow as your plants are way too big to bring indoor and just continue growing you don't want such tall plants indoor
Another update. Due to security issues. I have had to build a small grow room. The plants are still coming outside into direct sunlight for 4-6 hours a day. And the lights in the grow area are approx 150-200 true watts, full spectrum Led panel. 2 of them. I have another 50 (true watt) led panel ordered and on the way, which I plan to use as side lighting (the plants are about 3 1/2- 4ft) do you think this could be enough to transition them indoor full time If necessary?
I am currently running the plants on the same light hours they would naturally receive. As well as using 5-1-1 nutes every other watering and 0-1-3 nutes every 3rd. I give the girls the indoor lighting for about 4 hours in the morning, starting at the actual time of sunrise. And I bring them out into the sun for ad long as I can after work. Usually about 5 hours. When they don't receive direct sunlight anymore, I bring them back to the grow room , where they stay until sunset. With the addition of the LEDS they should definitely stay In the veg cycle for another month or so. Then, if all goes well, I will transition them indoor completely (they should be used to the indoor lighting by this point) on a 12/12 light cycle, and hope for the best. Thoughts? I know this goes against recommendation, but it was either hide them, or lose them.
All I can say is you're crushing it! I am on my first grow and doubt I will meet your success. Cheers mate.
